Cotto was hurt because he was caught with a perfect uppercut. My argument is that Pacquaio hasent carried his power up the weight divisions as much as those that are suspicious of him think. Cotto had already been in wars with both Margraito and Clotey, where he was cut and according to his father, "bled from his ears". This suggests that his face had previous damage going into the Pacquiao bout and as we know, when a fighter has suffered brusiing, cuts and lacerations in recent bouts, there more likely to reappear. This not only for me explains his face after the fight but also why he was take to hospital for the extensive check up. Again, where Diaz is concerned, he took something like 9 straight rounds of punishment, unable to deal with Pacquiao's speed and intensity, then fell directly on his face. This may have something to do with why he looked so bad. Hatton as i have said was caught with a flush left hook with upward velocity to the temple, that he didnt see coming. No light welter could take that punch with its accuracy and timing, so that has nothing whatsoever to do with steroids. Sure, PEDs may give long lasting stamina, but i think the reason for Pacquiao's stamina in his last 4 fights is the fact that he has barely been hit at all. (not at all in the Hatton and DLH bouts, and rarely in the Cotto fight, at a sustained level). My view is he has become much more methodical and tactically aware as he has moved up the weight classes. He has become a far better boxer, you cant deny that as it is in view in his recent fights for all to see. His speed and stamina were there during his lower weight class fights, so still being fast and having great stamina has nothing to do with PED's in my opinion. He just trains at an extremely high intensity, and again you can see that on tapes/youtube etc. If he had knocked Cotto out in that 4th round, or DLH in the 5th, then i could understand your concerns for his alleged steroid usage, but as he wasent able to, i dont think there is any substance at all in the allegations. He has never tested positive, no-one in his camp, including sparring partners, have shown public suspicion. The entire allegation came about as a result of his biggest rival planting a seed of doubt. That got people thinking what if?, and it has been blown largely out of proportion. Correct me if im wrong, but he has taken blood testing of some sort prior to the Clottey fight, showing no signs of suspicion at all, and until he is found guilty, i and many others will continue to consider him innocent.
:good at first i thought he was accusing pac, but he was talking of another kind of power, God given.
I don't think Manny is on any substance at all...but i do think most of you who write on here are......
In the end Clottey said he just couldn't deal with his speed, same as Diaz said, and probably what Barrera said back in 03
Thought this **** was new... Clottey's dumb ass said he was going to throw 4 punches to Pac's 30. Most hilarious **** I've read from a boxer as far as a gameplan.. Until he actually did the ****. Then it pissed me off.
