Interestingly, the WBC was also the first to recognize that division, and just like now, the WBA eventually crowned their own champion a few years later. IBF followed suit after pretty quickly. I reckon them and the WBO will do the same for this one next year.

Whatever, I barely care at this point. The people who run the sport don't care, the judges who throw out wild scorecards don't care, the Boxers themselves don't seem to care, and so much else.

    Why should I care?

    200-224 pounds.

Throw Mike Tyson, Sonny Liston, Joe Louis, Deontay Wilder, Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield into the mix whilst you're at it.

Very dicey territory which will tarnish the names of some great heavyweight champions, in the hardcore fans eyes at least.

I look forward to seeing who becomes the WBA ‘Regular’ super cruiserweight champion.

Adding more classes further fractures the sport. We should decrease the number of weight classes and expand them to cover a greater range of weight. Frankly, I think the UFC's weight class structure is much better than boxing.

Exactly. The sentiment of they "weren't even true heavyweights" will have legitimate arguments made. There will be this idea that unless you're 250 lbs+ with a high bodyfat you're not a "true heavyweight" in boxing.
