His name's Yatalo Perea. He's 19. Brooklyn buds tell me he hits like Frazier 'n Marciano. Anyone seen or heard of this kid?
Only notable amateur win I can see of him is beating Dominick Breazeale, which in itself isn't much of an accomplishment. Breazeale has about the worst defense I've seen in a heavyweight, he looked very poor at the games.
Never heard of him before, but did look up a few of his fights on youtube He only has 3 pro fights, and does NOT look look impressive at all. Slow plodder with poor footwork, no jab, and all he throws is a clubbing left hook Compare his early pro fight with someone like 18 year old Hughie Fury, who actually has a future in boxing ***********.youtube.com/watch?v=2T8NZ_xRnR0 ***********.youtube.com/watch?v=jHCwLR4dMPw
Looked him up on your recommendation, Mr. G. Won the Pan Am Games super heavy title at age 18, which is impressive. Saw something that listed him as a southpaw, but he fights orthodox. Given how much he uses his left, especially the hook, and how little he uses his right, I'd say it's a good guess he's converted. He's weighed in the 245 range in his pro fights (three, against very light opposition). He looks small in the amateur fight, compared to his opponent and even the Brit ref. I wonder how tall he is. His hook looks like the real deal. His right he uses so far pretty much for defense and to hold. Long way to go to tell if he's even close to being the real deal, but there's some things to like. I say he's ducking Hughie Fury (g)
