First there wont be a rubber match with Abraham. There is no rematch clause and it seems that Stieglitz gets a TV deal with another Tv station. So no an Abraham fight is not happening any time soon. Even after the fight Stieglitz's Promoter was not "very happy" about a third fight with Abraham. I mean if Stieglitz now has a TV contract with Sat1 and Abraham with ARD. It is unlikely that we see a third fight.
Groves already is mandatory for ages now. I think they could force Stieglitz to have a mandatory fight. But it just seems Hearn wants another rout for Groves.
Maybe Bika/Periban in September. Or another big name. After that we could even see a Froch fight. A Froch fight would be much bigger if Groves is champion. But it will be hard to get Groves a title fight this year. Especially he has to win this title fight wich will be very hard against all current champions.

I just don't see why it would be unlikely, your mandatory and Burns is WBO champ so Matchroom have worked with the WBO and would be able to force a mandatory, so they can't want it and would prefer wbc fight

To be fair that classic match got **** hot viewing figures. A preview of the fight got 161,000 so you can magine the actual event did more than that.

Kalle Sauerland has been saying different but I won't pretend to understand the complicated TV network saga. For me, I think AA deserves a rematch as the fight was essentially ended by an eye injury even though it was caused by a punch.

What other fight can Stieglitz take that sells that many tickets and gets that much interest in Germany? Where else does AA go from there if he doesn't get a rematch? Perhaps he could fight Groves to try and become mandatory again and force it?

Do you have a current link where Kalle says there will be a rematch? Because there is not a rematch clause and SES seems not be happy about a rematch. And now there is this new TV deal. I dont say there wont be a rematch but I dont think it happens this year.
Abraham has a fight lined up in August as far I know. I dont know which rout he wants to go. Get mandatory for Stieglitz? Or maybe get mandatory for the WBC belt?
Also we have to see if Abraham is even motivated enough to get Champion again. I doubt it.

rather than chuck groves in a meaningful fight which he could lose now, they would rather milk a couple more keep busy fights then maybe one or two hand picked eliminators

they wont be taking any risks with an outside chance of a froch ppv on the cards somewhere down line

So Eddie signs loads of fighters, engages with fans on who they want to see them fight...decides to ignore them and serve up shite except for the Froch fight.

Let me guess Eddie, signed them all, couldnt afford the big opponents as he blew it all on Kessler and now has to wait for that income to come in so he can see whats left before matching anyone else in anything slightly reasonable?

Burns should be fighting Broner, Vasquez, Abril...none mentioned.
Groves is mandatory for the WBO, talked about it for months...now not mentioned
Froch wanting Ward - only in the UK, which he knows won't happen

    Ffs so frustrating

This could have as much to do with the fact that going over to Germany to get a decision is near on impossible and Stieglitz won't be travelling to the UK. Doesn't mean that Hearn or Booth are in anyway scared of Stieglitz or ducking him, especially if they're talking about Bika who is just as tough and has the better experience of the two.

Boxingnews24 is running a story that AA is to fight Groves but there are various quotes attributed to Kalle Sauerland circulating that there should be a third fight with AA, he even says that Stieglitz agreed after the 2nd fight that there should be a third but it now looks to be off possibly due to the TV saga's reported or perhaps Stieglitz wants a fight in between as he has boxed AA twice in a row?

THIS! Hearn cant afford Groves losing a fight. Not with a possible big domestic fight. Maybe we even see Abraham vs Groves? Who knows.
It is just very strange that Groves talked a lot about fighting Stieglitz and after he saw Stieglitz ****ing up Abraham like nobody else did he is very quiet.
Hearn talks about a big fight for September. I think Groves will face a name. But not an opponent who has a good chance of winning this fight. I dont think Hearn really wants the winner of Bika/Periban.

Stieglitz agreed after the second fight. Yet his promoter was not happy at all about this fight.
Also Groves could fight Stieglitz in the UK (if Hearn wins a purse bid). They just want no part of Stieglitz. Also the WBO belt is not that big.
I dont think Hearn really wants a Bika fight. Also the winner has not to face Groves in the UK. Winning your title and than going to the UK to fight Groves? I only would do that FOR BIG money....
I tell it now! Groves wont get a title fight this year except he fights Froch. the big fight in September will be "just" against a "big" name. Maybe even Abraham.

the one exciting idea from the interview was the idea of a british lightweight tournament would be good if that could happen and see how they would go about it?

the frampton stuff including anything about quigg was all very vague

cant help thinkin its rees lined up next for burns even though billy nelson says no and hearns mentioning other names

Hearn has Groves on a 3 or 4 fight deal and I think he has already fought two of those fights already so I don't think he is being protected for Froch though stranger things have happened. I don't see how a potential fight with AA, who is a noted puncher, and beat Stieglitz the first time round, is safer than a fight with Stieglitz himself, perhaps ever so marginally. Lets not forget that although Stieglitz fought well it was ultimately the eye injury that stopped the fight, AA is a notoriously slow starter as well.

Booth also picks and approves Groves opponents I believe and if he is keeping him away from Stieglitz then why would he throw him in against Froch even for a big pay day? If they don't have the confidence in him to face Bika or Stieglitz then the Froch fight is even less likely to happen!

Stieglitz had a broken hand in the first fight. He even had the injury before the fight. Stieglitz would win a rematch.
The thing is not only the eye injury. I never saw Abraham hurt. And he was pretty hurt at the end of round two. Abraham was lucky that it was at the end of the round. Also I never saw a guy pushing Abraham back like Stieglitz did. A fight with Abraham would be safer for Groves. Of course Abraham can knock Groves out with a single shot. But also Stieglitz has the power to stop Groves.... Now maybe Abraham has no motivation left for boxing.
It is really difficult to match Groves now. He has to take a risk in a big fight.

it will be booth / hayemaker making it safety first for groves until froch decides what hes doin. they will not risk potential ppv money look how quick they were back on sky as soon as ppv was available again.

matchoom will have no problem with it either they would get paid from both sides of it
