Would you consider Hearn a successful promoter? If you were a boxer would you sign with Matchroom to promote your fights?

I could be off on his overall success, but he doesn't seem like a very successful promoter to me given all the media coverage he gets. He hasn't been very successful in getting AJ the top fights or the top paydays with Wilder or Fury. Looks like he's losing leverage to get AJ the rematch with Ruiz in England. He hasn't been able to get Whyte a title shot. I'm forgetting a few other blunders. I could also be over thinking his blunders vs his successes. What are your thoughts?

Eddie was killing it in the UK for sure gotta give him credit for pretty much spearheading a UK HW renaissance of sorts.. But in the US we have way too many casuals that have other sports to focus on before the thought of boxing cross their minds.. He expected major results too fast based on the way he promoted in the UK and it’s not moving at the pace he would like.. It doesn’t help that AJ’s(his major star) first fight over here he gets smashed by a guy he was suppose to have a relative easy night with.. It took Manny, Floyd, Cotto years to become the attractions they became.. Overall I give him a C+ so far in the US..

I was listening to Hearn's podcast yesterday with Wayne Rooney. Rooney was saying that his US team mates have no idea who most of the US fighters are let alone actually watching the fights. It just isn't as popular over there. Hearn was saying it is a struggle to get the exposure and US fans watch boxing in the same way they go to the cinema (basically boring as f**k).

My honest thoughts is you sound like a bit of a hater. Hearn been promoting longer than Joshua been around and has promoted many more Boxers than Joshua. If you want to concentrate on Joshua then he is the 2nd highest earning Boxer on the planet right now and with Hearn promoting him became the UNIFIED world champ and may soon become 2 time unified champ. Im not sure how anybody can look at AJ and Hearn and what they have done together and then question if Eddie Hearn is a failure.

Matchroom has promoted over 20 events this year. They have good deals with DAZN and SKY.
And their roster is slowly growing with top talent.
And most do get a title shot under their umbrella.

    I like the guy.

As for the success of his fighters, he has a bunch of young stars that will break out in the next 2-3 years.
Buatsi, Haney, Cordina, Yeussinov and others will all be big names in the next couple of years.

He’s a fast talker and actually has a talent for promoting, but he’s also extremely arrogant, so despite his talent he sabotages himself.

I 'd promote myself, not let slimeballs like this profit from me.

If Hearn is done...Joshua was his Zenith & he will never be able to provide anything better for his clients from here on...

If Hearn is an ATG...He will not find peace until he introduces the world to a better Talent, more money will be the side-effect...

Of course Hearn is a good Promoter, he made a PPV star out of Tony Bellew! If that isnt good promotion i dont know what is.

Hearn grasped and moved with the social media age way before most promoters and its really reaped the rewards. Id also say that Hearn owes alot to Froch and also Groves because he really drummed up interest in their fight and off the back of that matchroom blew up massively with AJ becoming a major factor.

Whether or not you like him or the dumbing down of boxing he and Sky have pushed is another debate but he is an excellent UK promoter.

This. People underestimate the money, resources, and connections it takes to be successful in boxing and not to mention careful matchmaking. As much as Floyd and Oscar don’t like Arum he developed them and helped put them in a position they would’ve never achieved trying to promote themselves straight out of the amateurs.

This is also the case with Wilder and Joshua. Wilder has Russ Anber to thank for carefully matching him and getting him to a title virtually unscathed. Wilder was a complete idiot to destroy that relationship.

Also, as much as people criticize Hearn (myself included) he stepped up to the plate and paid Charles Martin $8.5 million, so Joshua could get a title opportunity with 15 fights to his name.
