The UK boxing audience knows fine well that Bakole is a bigger threat than toothless Franklin or knockover-job Helenius. The public want to see competitive bouts. This is just avoidance talk by Hearn intended to preserve Joshua's career. Joshua has been in three even match-ups in his career and that's Klitschko, Usyk, and Usyk. Joshua will only take a risk for a shot at glory, and Bakole doesn't bring him glory.

Franklin was a comeback fight and Helenius stepped in on short notice.

Mandatory, which is the only reason why that fight happened.

HEARN IS SCARED TO DEATH OF BAKOLE & ZHANG

He is desperate for his bodybuilding bum to get a Fury/Usyk payday but it's not happening!

AJ is getting chinned again by a real G. IT IS INEVITABLE.

They are both stiffs, and Wallin is as mediocre as they come. So what's wrong with facing Bakole? How does defeating stiffs and an old MMA guy warrant anything more? As a belt holder, Joshua fought stiffs like Molina, Breazeale, and Takam.

    Every excuse is poor.

Besides which - Dubois did have the profile, just not the ability (which is why he turned up with lowblows as his gameplan).

You are acting like Hearn owns something to Bakole.
Bakole has his own promoter and manager who should take care of him.

Franklin was a come back fight after back to back losses so an easy touch was acceptable. Helenius only got the fight on short notice becuae Whyte got done for doping.

Wallin fight I never liked, always thought Wallin was wildly overrated but given how many people on here thought he was good I guess he was acceptable to those who rated Wallin at least until Joshua blasted Wallin out and then everyone was like, wow what a mismatch. Which to be fair was the truth, shame people hyped Wallin up so much, which in part is why that fight was made.

Bakole is better than Franklin, Helenius and Wallin, but I still think this would be Joshua cherry picking an easy opponent, so I for one won't be impressed should Joshua choose to fight Bakole right now.

If Joshua beats Dubois and takes on Bakole after that, the people complaining in this thread would then accuse him of ducking Kabayel or Zhang or Parker. Bakole looked really good, but lets' be real here - he's had one win over a ranked guy and he won't even break into the top 5 with that.

Would Bakole be a bigger fight than say Usyk, Fury, Parker, Zhang, Dubois, Kabayel or even Wilder? No. That is the point Hearn was making.
Hearn wasn´t arguing that Bakole doesn´t deserve to fight those names, just that he isn´t a big name himself.

Yeah I was ready to say it was BS after reading the thread title, but after watching the video, what Hearn was saying was pretty resonable. Either people didn't watch the video to see what he actually said or are simply happy to take any excuse to bash Hearn.

Bakole vs. Wallin would be a good fight and it would definitely be good for Bakole's resume...

Well, I don't think Bakole has to build his resume at this point, certainly not with anyone outside the current top-10.

Of course Hearn's referring to $$. Can Bakole pack in the butts-in-seats and PPV sign-ups like better-known Brit boxers? Hearn's eager to see an eventual AJ-Fury fight because it would pack Wembley and then some.

But Bakole cannot be denied for long; conventional wisdom is that fighters are dodging him either because they've had rough sparring sessions with him, or the $$ wouldn't be there, or both -- and that the only thing that got Bakole this Anderson shot and much-needed hi-profile US exposure was the intervention of Turki Al-AlShaikh.

    Bring on the big fights.

Bakole could go on to be a big name in the division and he could be another Joyce. Anderson didn't have much trouble landing, just with handling what was coming back at him. Would it have added up to a different result with a better fighter? Time will tell. Good fight last night, most entertaining of the whole card, but let's wait and see before we get our knickers all twisted.
