The division has been rotten during and since the Klitschko era and became a joke after Fury's win v Wlad in Dusseldorf. We seen some of the worst World Champions ever in the history of boxing and Joshua had an easy time of it with Fury out of the way then not fighting Wilder due to arguments about money. Fury and Usyk is the fight we need to see next to crown the undefeated, undisputed Champion in the division. Paint Dry Parker has never been a favourite of mine but I did see some improvements in his last fight v Chisora when at last he let his hands go. Joshua was there for the taking when they fought and I feel all Parker wanted to do was see out 12 rounds in a tame loss. I actually think Parker does look capable of producing more in the ring and there is another 20% more to come out of him. Wilder is a danger to any fighter and I hope Joe Joyce gets a chance before he is too old.
No, by no means. I understand Eddie Hearn's role well and he does a great job for Conor Benn. I'm just pointing out that Conor Benn is not an international super star. Maybe he will be in 3 - 4 years time ?
See i would say ability wise Wilder is sooo much worse than AJ, I actually probably have the same feeling you have for AJ towards Wilder. If it wasnt for his power i think he would be know where near a world title but thats my opinion.
Just listened to Benn saying he likes to fight former world champions such as Algieri as it’s a yardstick to compare his performance to other people who have fought him. The last time Algieri fought anyone decent Benn was still saving up for his beard transplant the muppet.
Delusional logic, with no context involved. Maybe we could see Robert Guerrero next, followed by Andre Berto, then Luis Collazo to round the year off, just so he can compare how everyone else beat them 5-10 years prior.
That could be because of the DAZN platform not being out there as Sky. Like even the most casual sport fans I knew would of watched Bellew or Whyte on Sky as they knew about it possibly through build up on sky sports news.
Benn was 17 when algieri last held a world title. Daddys trust fund hadnt even been paid out at that point
Benn is just doing what Amir 'amere con' Khan did >> Barrera, Judah, Alexander, Diaz, Collazo I.e - deliberately face past it American/Mexican names to raise his profile in the US
I can't understand the criticism Benn is getting. Stepped up quality in opponent his last 4 fights and if he fights Hooker that would be another step up in quality. If Benn does fight Guerrero though he then does deserve criticism as he is a step down from Algieri and even older.
It's more the talking about world title fights this year and being a global superstar when he's fighting has beens & refusing to fight Avanesyan, Ennis and Ortiz Jr.
He is not going to put himself down when comparing himself to other prospects. We all know that he would lose to any of those guys and those guys are not exactly fighting each other either.
Yeah I can understand that. I can't blame Benn for being eager to wanting to fight his the top 10 straight away. I don't actually blame Benn's team for not putting him in with a top 10 at present so as long as he being put against an better quality of opponent in each fight to test his progression. Let's face it Benn is no Ortiz or Ennis in terms of quality. Benn has limited amatuer background and has shown vast improvments the past few years. Two fights against top 15 type guys before putting him against a legit top 10 opponent would probably be best for his progression and give him the experience to be in best position when does fight one of the top guys. Benns team should put against Hooker next, then maybe Broner in summer (both winnable fights for Benn but not guanteed). As Benn stated he want 3 fight them at the year put him against a legit top 10 in Danny Garcia ( I think Garcia beats at present unless Benn shows more improvement in his next 2 fights).
Benn has been a pro for 6 years, has 20 fights on his CV and been calling out World Champions after his fights. This looks a smaller version of Big Fraudley in action.
