I've not much interest in a Joshua vs Whyte rematch, the first fight minus the 20 seconds in the second round wasn't remotely competitive. Joshua landed pretty much at will whilst fighting recklessly. I can't see Joshua fighting a stupid fight like that again and Whyte, while improved, has nothing more than a punchers chance. Also, is Whyte even a mandatory? I don't see why people are so up in arms about this, I'd take more issue with the fact Whyte has been WBC number 1 for however long and still not even gotten remotely close to a Wilder fight.
Spot on. Everyone seems to think Joshua owes him a shot, why? Don’t remember all this when it was wilder.
Yeah you guys are right, Whyte doesn't deserve a shot. So who does deserve a shot then? In your wise, informed, expert opinions? Whyte wasn't competitive in the first fight... sure... maybe you should have gone to specsavers. It is a damn shame I can't find punch stats, but Whyte kept AJ in check between rounds 2 and 6. He wasn't gonna fall over like Molina... they were exchanging in the middle of the ring EQUALY tit for tat. So god knows what fight you have watched... I can post the video here and make you look like an idiot for that comment about not being competitive. But I care not for 2015... it is old news. Whyte was learning on the job, no ABA license... no olympic experience... unlike Joshua. Whyte was training in a garage. He is a different fighter. I hope we see the rematch purely to shut the mouths of people like you who think Whyte wouldn't stand a competitive chance.
He certainly does deserve a shot, and if it isn’t now, he’ll get it via a mandatory later. I’d say he’s been Joshua’s 3rd toughest fight, in terms of back and forth action, with Wlad and Povetkin being tougher. Having said that, while Whyte has improved and matured, so as Joshua. I do expect a more clinical victory for Joshua this time around.
I agree that he was AJ 3rd toughest fight, but don't agree Joshua would be more clinical. People seem to think that would be the case ...but put Dillian in the ring and you'll see the pressure he will be putting on AJ in every counter... and Dillian is hitting much harder now. Chisora's style is very much like Miller, he ducks down low and leads with top of his head (got point deduction for it) and throws looping overhands, difficult to counter, but Whyte learned how in the second fight. AJ stands up tall... a different style completely. And Chisora is a durable guy and was visibly hurt just by body punches alone from Whyte. AJ has a narrower, and longer torso. He will be hurting from those Whyte body shots because no one throws them at Joshua. So you are reluctant to hit a guy that can hit you back just as hard, and just as frequently. I promise you that Dillian's bodyshots will give AJ trouble... absolutely will slow AJ down. And Hearn is so frightened to have AJ fight Whyte, that he is threatening to block WBO mandatory for Whyte by enticing Usyk to move up and take it with his special WBO status.
Wilder doesn’t owe Dillian a shot until Dillian is the mandatory. Joshua doesn’t owe Dillian a shot till Dillian is the mandatory, however Hearn who works for Dillian should be getting him a title shot imo.
Yeah guess what, instead of doing that Hearn is threatning to bump him of WBO mando using Usyk wildcard. Very classy. Watcha think bout dat mate?
Despite the fact that - IMO - AJ vs Usyk does much bigger PPV than AJ vs Whyte 2, Hearn would feel safer seeing AJ take on Whyte than Usyk. Usyk is the bigger threat to AJ's crown IMO, so I dont agree Hearn would be bumping Whyte off WBO mando for the sake of Usyk.
Then why is he threatning to do just that? It's a bit rich putting Usyk in the mix with top 5 heavies as who is dangerous and who is a threat. Come on man, if you speculate anymore we'll end up in never never land. Whyte is tried, tested, and proven at Heavy. Usyk is not. Whyte and AJ are elite, top 5.
Dillian is game, always puts on a show and he's definitely earned a shot at Joshua. Let's not get carried away with Dillian's ability. I don't think Chisora would give Joshua or Fury any trouble and he gave Dillian all he could handle in both fights. Joshua is at least a level above Dillian if not a couple of levels. They've both progressed and Dillian does have a savage left hook but it's a punchers chance. Joshua is just so much better in almost every department. Also you mentioned Parker getting lucky in his fight with Dillian. If you know boxing then you know there's no such thing as luck in boxing, not when somebody has thrown thousands of punches and boxed hundreds of rounds in competition and sparring. Fact is Parker was coming on strong and Dillian was literally hanging on for the final bell.
Parker was a champion who was a PPV draw in NZ , Hearn didn't want to relinquish a title to the mandatory challenger with purse bids so he avoided any legal formalities that's why Povetkin got more to avoid a Russia trip. These are FACTS why certain fighters got paid more. The idea of Whyte vs Klitschko would be to fill The Wembley date should Fury go ahead with Wilder and Whyte doing what he's doing now, being unhappy with offers. Where Joshua has the Miller option should Whyte ultimately not fight anyone. Hearn put up roadblocks? Lol..More like he made Whyte a PPV attraction even at low level is way better where he would be without the matches he got from Matchroom. The idea you guys keep insinuating Hearns avoiding Whyte or low balling him to keep away from Joshua is ridiculously stupid , just follow the timeline and you'll see just how stupid since AJ became Champion . Whyte said after the Parker fight he wasn't even READY for Joshua wanting a few more fights but you want us to believe Hearn was stalling the entire time !
Of course luck exists in boxing, in a fight! A lucky punch! 12th round, Dillian already gassing as he didn't expect the fight to go the distance, neither did Parker except Whyte was overweight, Parker was not. Reflexes fade, Whyte was caught off guard because he decided to trade which he shouldn't have. It's not like Parker set it up like that. This is in contrast to what Whyte undeniably did to Chisora in the rematch. Where he deliberatly gassed out Chisora till he had an advantage of a few millisecond in each exchange to KO Chisora. Because Whyte hurt Chisora multiple times, I mean like few punches away from KO... multiple times. Furthermore, Whyte rocked Chisora with a straight right in rematch... did you see it???? If you didn't let me know I'll link you the clip, first round could have done Chisora but didn't risk it. He hurt him with a vicious body shot too. Much more than just a left hook mate, don't deny it. So no, I am not in the slightest getting carried away. I said AJ is better, but not by as much as you think. Parker is the fastest heavyweight, way faster than Dillian... and it is he who lands first right????? Well Whyte surpressed that punch speed for 12 rounds, and roughed up Parker. So please tell me more about Parkers wonderful moment in round 12, and ignore the 11 rounds that Dillian dominated him in. Pull the wool over our eyes... go on.
When somebody has thrown the same punch and landed the punch thousands of times, sorry but I don't see that as luck. Ok we don't agree so no problem.
