This. The same people defending Whyte now were calling Whyte out for the stuff he was saying about Wilder turning down a deal. Whyte seemed to think that Wilder turning down a career high payday to fight him was inexcusable yet somehow his being lowball by AJ. Work that one out.
£4-5m is a very decent offer to Whyte - and privately he knows this. The curve ball for this whole deal is the Wembley date which was announced some months advance, in all probability to put the heat on Wilder. Problem for Hearn/AJ is Wilder fought Fury and could fight him again, leaving Whyte as the only viable opponent in April. I guess Whyte feels he can strangle a better deal based on the fear AJ will have to cancel April or be forced to fight an opponent with no UK profile. Wilder vs Fury has caused Matchroom major issues and booking Wembley for April months in advance and prior to the Povetkin bout now looks to be unwise and naive...
Whyte does deserve a shot, but at the WBC, the organization he's number 1 of. Joshua fighting Whyte would be an optional defence, one which personally doesn't interest me, Whyte brings nothing new with him. Sure he's improved at what he already does, but it's not enough. The first fight showed there's levels to this, Joshua was reckless and it was still pretty much one way traffic, but I guess if you hate Joshua and love Whyte you can convince yourself he was more than a semi mobile punching bag. The only plus point to a Whyte fight is that he's durable and unafraid to engage, but he gets broken down and violently knocked out. Likely easier then the first fight unless he gets under Joshua's skin again and drags him into a fight.
Cool, well I totally disagree with everything you say, and I hope the rematch gets made to shine light on the silliness of your post. If AJ dominates Whyte in the manner you describe... I will eat my socks.
And who the F are you to define and judge what any fighter deserves? This is all just the Hearn "Offers" PR tool (TM pending). Just throw out a weekly IFL release about supposed concrete offers, claim everyone else is being greedy/nefarious/dishonest/lost their pen, and the Casual Army FC twitter will lap it up and troll army anyone saying otherwise. If you're bored click on an Eddie fan's twitter profile, and I guarantee you that 7/10 they will have a footballer or football stadium as their profile or background pic. Unfortunately, they seem to grow exponentially in the football off-season. It's got so bad now that 21-year-old Nando' aficionados from Kent who still live with mum and dad and have a girlfriend called Kayleigh feel perfectly comfortable lecturing Lennox Lewis on the machinations of the HW division past and present, and why he doesn't have the right to opine on it. Just pause for a second and reflect on how utterly laughable that is.
