Hearn Fires Back at Canelo: Brook is Doing What You Won't Do!

People in the UK know Brook. Hardly anyone knows Smith. I am from Liverpool, like Smith, and more people here have heard of Brook over Smith. Liam Smith isn't even the most famous person in his own family, in Liverpool.

Brook may be a WW moving up two divisions, but unlike Smith, he is fighting on a popular channel and he has fought world level fighters. It doesn't mean that Brook will have an easier fight than Smith, but it is the reason why many people will watch Brook v Golovkin, but only the hardcore fans and some casuals from Liverpool will watch Smith v Canelo.

 

People in the UK need to get educated and realize which of the two fights is a farce and a total mismatch and which one is an actual meaningful fight...

 

In the grand scheme of things they are both farcial.

 

I'm not sure how a top Jr. MW fighting for a Jr.MW title against a titlist is a farce.

On paper it is not. In reality it is.

How Smith or his opponent he fought to win the title ever got a title shot is beyond me. It really sums up modern day boxing.

 

I don't like Joshua and I don't respect his fights so far, but I have to admit he's being handled very well.

Regular fight schedule with a good amount of hype buildup for each one. My favorite being the "regular" part. Everyone talks about fighting frequently, but then they take 6 months, or even a year, off. They don't have to fight every month, but I'm sick of these huge gaps.

And now Hearn is even talking about getting other heavyweights to play along and get exciting fights together too (Price vs Parker, Whyte vs Chisora).

Hearn and co. has won me over. I don't know if I like him personally, but I might love him professionally.

 

Yea, I'm saying the people defending Canelo would go nuts if Lucas or KT did the exact same thing

yeah this,there's actually a decent article about this on news 24,Dan Ambrose points out the comments at the latest Canelo press do.
He makes the point that instead of putting Smith down and saying he's gonna tear his head off both Canelo and his trainer sound like they're having a hard job in complimenting Liam Smith.
Canelos trainer even comes across as not liking this match up as he points out that nobody knows who Smith is and even says that once this is done "everything will come later".

You gotta hand it to GB they know how to sell a fight though it looks like with Liam Smith they have missed an opportunity to Put it on free view?
