Ugh. Possibly Wilder's 2nd best name on his resume but still an utter waste of time. Can't they at least make it Pulev? He at the very least has a jab that will make Wilder work for the win. I was optimistic when it all went quiet, hoping Finkel had sent the counter offer behind closed doors like a professional but it just seems he didn't like Joshua calling his bluff. They know it's not a $100m fight and have froze when challenged to back that assertion up with an offer. Hearn's flat fee was cheeky, no doubt, and it guaranteed that any upside on the expected revenue would go straight to Joshua's pocket, but at the very least he extended an offer based on his valuations. Finkel couldn't even muster the brass to counter with a hard percentage between 30-40%. 5x your highest payday to make history and become undisputed champion (the first ever since the WBO's wider recognition), or Breazeale for what .... $1.5M? All the while reneging on the possibility of a counter offer? Sorry but that's pretty close to a duck IMO.
Wilder's lifelong dream of cleaning the division from football players is finally about to come true. Breazeale is the final boss.
I've been a huge critic of Wilder in the past but cmon man, it's clear as day that Hearn & co don't want this fight yet. 60/40 In AJ's favour. Get it done ffs. We should all agree that that's the right to do. If Wilder's team accepted 12.5milion then that is serious malpractice on behalf of his team and Hearn knows it. Also as a side note, and I'm accurately paraphrasing Hearn here, "Now Deontay is going to fight Breazeale! A man who got KO'd easily by Joshua in 7 rounds five fights ago!". The irony is clearly lost on Hearn when he is trying to throw Whyte in with Wilder. The only people who believe Hearn here are those who think 9/11 was done by a bunch of dirt farmers and think that Ronaldo is better than Messi. The people in this category seem to be missing something analytical upstairs. They can't process information and connect dots. It is blatant!
Their combined purse would be like 30 million. Total revenue 40 million. So Wilder should get 12 million in your opinion?
Why doesn't he just offer a percentage then if he knows that's the case? Hearn said to the Independant a while back that he would hope this fight generates over 100 million pound. When this recent contradiction was pointed out to him, Hearn asked "where did you see this?". He was sent the link & I don't think he has replied yet! 60/40. Get it done.
Hahaha he won't even make a $1 million for this defense. and he turned down $12.5 million to fight Joshua?? Hope Brazeale KO's him, then he will have no chance to even make $ 12 mil. lol
Golovkin should have accepted the flat fee of 10 million dollars against Canelo, eh? Pacquiao should have accepted the flat fee of 40 million for Floyd, eh? History shows that flat offers in mega fights are just a delaying tactic.
Joshua has 3 belts, Wilder only has 1... he only deserves 25%.... Thats fair, if these belts are worth a damn!! Wilder could barely fill his Birmingham AL 10,000 seat arena. Lets not over-exagerrate his popularity.
What happened to the counter offer? I want to hear about this counter offer, I want to see what Team Wilder believe this fight to be worth.
