Skills don't mean everything to the casual viewer. It's not that they don't matter, but we can see in comparisons between Joshua and Fury against the same opponent, at the same time, on the same channel, with the same result, for the same belts, and that viewing figures and reactions were chalk and cheese. The Fury fight was largely written off as a bit of a stinker whilst the Joshua fight was being called one of the best heavyweight fights in decades. Again, it's comparing a defensive football team who win 1-0 in a sensible, cautious, effective display with a side who go all out attack and win 4-3 in the last minute.

Again, I'm not saying you're wrong to find Fury thrilling to watch. I'm just saying that it would seem needlessly obtuse to recognise a guy who won his biggest fight landing around seven punches a round probably wasn't going to be the sort of boxer the masses enjoy watching.

Fighters (and promoters) have done this for years. Hatton saying he'd not bother watching Junior Witter if he was in his back garden. Haye spending the entire build up to the Ruiz fight calling Ruiz boring and dull.

Promoters will always look to rivals and try to denigrate the product they're offering. Warren will rightfully say Frampton Warrington is a top class world title fight offering more skill at a far higher level. Hearn will rightfully say that the public would rather watch two big lumps going hell for leather in the shape of Chisora and Whyte. Likewise, Hearn will want to hold up the Fury Wilder fight and say 'this is why people turn up and fill stadiums and sell 1.5m PPV's to watch Anthony Joshua, and the reason is because he's entertaining and these two are boring.'

Ultimately, we all know it all boils down to money, and this is simply Hearn banging that drum that if and when communications start, Joshua holds all the financial clout. No more no less and every single other promoter in the history of boxing would be doing the same.

Ok so now that it’s been confirmed (as I expected) that Joshua will NOT be attending Wilder-Fury, I think it’s time to revisit this classic Hearn quote and add it to the compendium.

This is when Wilder pulled out of his commentary gig for Joshua-Parker after being told by Hearn that he would be physically restrained by security if he tried to enter the ring post-fight:

"I've been told he's not coming," Hearn confirmed.
"The entire epicentre of heavyweight boxing is in Cardiff on Saturday. How bad do you think he wants the fight if he don't come? Don't give me all that, 'All I want to do is unify the division'. Come [to Cardiff]. You're getting paid. You've got a lovely hotel room. It's not like it's a chore. This is your job, but he don't want it. He don't want to get mixed up with Dillian.”

So now we have a major world heavyweight title fight stateside, a country that Joshua and Hearn want to make an impact in, featuring the man who is their number one target for Wembley, and Joshua is not going to be there?

I’m waiting for Hearn to publicly blast Joshua for not planning to attend but I won’t hold my breath...

This thread will be a 100-pager at this rate.

It makes no sense for Joshua to not be there.

He claims Joshua is more well known in the States but that isn't true, regardless, Joshua being there raises his profile. Alas, Mr Robot would rather post a few Instagram pictures than actually do something exciting and call out Wilder or Fury to their faces in front of a global audience.

To think we all thought the heavyweight division would become more exciting when Klitschko got beat. Then The Bodybuilder came along.

When Usyk came to Manchester to box Bellew, AJ spontaneously went on holiday in Jamaica. Surely it would have made sense for him to be at the fight to not only support his supposed “friend” in his final fight but also to start a slow build up to a clash with Usyk.

But you’re right, this one is nonsensical, makes zero sense for Joshua not to be at this HW fight. Looking at Hearn’s rant at Wilder is comical in hindsight.

Joshua was never going to be at ringside, he wouldn't want to give them extra attention by being there and secondly you know whoever wins the fight would in the post fight interview go verbally right for him and we know if you say anything he doesn't really like, he gets rattled and that will show a different side to him that they have tried for a long time to hide to the public. Wilder being asked to come over commentate on the Joshua/Parker fight and told if Joshua wins he isn't allowed in the ring was just a punk move on Joshua's part, even more so when he called Wilder out after the win, he could have been face to face with you in front all of the people in the stadium, many millions across the world and he knew he couldn't control what Wilder would say face to face to him so decided no way he gets in the ring with me afterwards. It's a shame that he won't be at ringside for Wilder vs Fury, because how massive would it be for whoever comes out the champion to look right at him and call him out so that we get the fight and have one undisputed, unified heavyweight champion of the world.

Wilder was prepared to come to him only for Hearn and Joshua himself both warning him he would be restrained if he tried to have a face off.

Wilder had no problem allowing a coked up, drunken Tyson Fury into his ring after Szpilka.

Interesting to see Fury stroking hearns and Joshua's ego during his recent interview with Gareth A.Davies. He is obviously sweetening them up for potential future business.

Just goes to show this sort of thing is meaningless then given how pathetic the sales are going for Wilder Fury.

Waste of Joshua's time then if you go by what you say.

Give that link a spin. Hearn ripping Wilder's promoter a new one for Wilder not attending AJ/Parker.

But, but AJ can’t be there because Under Armour won’t allow him to postpone a photo shoot..

Why would AJ go to the fight? Both Wilder and Fury don't want to fight him so there is hardly any point in going. Also by going to the event then it gives the Wilder Fury fight more publicity which is not what AJ/Hearn want.
Once Wilder has smashed Fury then the apparently baddest man on the planet needs to stop all the talking and just sign the contract for April to see who is really the best heavyweight.

Love Hearn's recent statement saying they have a three week window to make the Joshua/Wilder fight after the 1st of December. Of course the long planned next opponent Dillian Whyte happens to be fighting 3 weeks later. Just a coincidence of course.
