Right let's go back 3-4 years before the matchroom/sky exclusive deal.

Please tell me how boxing in this country was better for the fans and better for the fighters.

We had boxnation giving fighters coverage but little exposure. We had some other small time PPV channel called primetime showing fights that sky never picked up so again we had fighters getting no promotion at all.

Channel 5 were in the mix so yeah we had FTA fights but not major promotion of fights.

People need to get real and understand that the UK is not like the USA. We have one sports channel platform here that is huge and the biggest in europe.

There is no other channel which comes anywhere near. Matchroom being non exclusive on sky wouldn't really make things better.

That's the crux of the issue. People may not like a Joshua v Whyte fight being on ppv but if any of us was a promoter with Joshua on our books knowing he can draw such numbers on ppv we wouldn't leave the money on the table and the fighter himself wouldn't expect anything less. We would be making the ppv fights which make the promotion, the fighter and broadcaster money.

Because the monopolising of the sport gives hearn far too much power, and ultimately due to broadcasting partnerships we aren't going to see the fights that we should see. Instead we'll be served up overhyped mismatches, and that will be fine as the casual will pay for it.

Like I said before, how was things better when matchroom wasnt exclusive with sky.

I don't see how things are any different now.

Did we get the fights we wanted to see when there were multiple promoters on sky? From what I remember there were plenty of horrific shows.

Verging? He's been a con-man since day dot!

British title fights are now PAY PER VIEW? Christ almighty, bring back the 90's when PPV's were genuinely STACKED.

    @ N17 - Very well put, sir.

I understand what people are saying in terms of monopolising the sport, but many fighters who are non Matchroom are regularly on Sky so I don't really see the problem, its not like he is being an ass about the situation and taking advantage of it, Groves is always on Sky, Fury would be if he wanted to, Khan is too so the only one that isn't really is Frampton and that's more to do with their side not wanting to work with Hearn.

Sounds like ****** has his nose out of place ,, and Hearns has been too smart for all of them ,, Eubank snr has really stuffed his lads carreer up ,, its obvios that carreer is finished where the money is the UK .. UNLESS he gives Eddie a bigger contract , looks like Eddie lost the purse bid on purpose saved himself a big payday for Eubank , UNLESS he gets a longer contract , which you can guarantee will be heavilly in matchrooms favor . Snr has certainly outsmarted himself on this one

Also think snr never actually realised that sky where exclusive with matchroom. He thought they could walk away and go to sky direct.

I never saw the tweet Eddie is on about but seems like he ****ed off sky also so he has screwed up big time.

If he doesn't go back to matchroom with a longer deal then where is he gonna go?

That last bit is spot on, everyone wants to work with Chris Eubank Jnr, however no one is willing to work with Snr in order for that to happen.

Finally someone understands! That's what my defence of him has been all along, why would you have bad feelings towards someone who is just looking to make as much money as possible? All he is doing is performing business correctly right now and targeting the market where the money is. As much as that doesn't suit the fans, its what he has to do in order to make money and I don't think you can really complain at anyone doing that.

Matchroom/Sky are killing boxing just like they killed darts and they killed football. The only folk who can't see this are the morons who happily offer up their money to watch ad infested tv and the drunken louts Eddie calls 'casuals'.
