    Streaming apps are the future, sky's platform has had its day...
    Eddie's playing the long game here and getting in early.
    Shrewd move in a time where we all watch 'tv'
    Is starting to change and matchroom know it.

    Why would Amazon go big? Billion doller broadcasting deals don't do anything for Amazon when all they are trying to do is drive people to buy a prime subscription. Amazon prime is like $70 a year or £8 a month.

    There is just no way that sort of return is worth the billions it costs for EPL rights.

    Why would Sky? BT? Or anybody else go large on the rights then?

    Because they charge a lot more than £70 a year or £8 a month to subscribe to watch it.

    That's not forgetting any new subscriber is locked into a minimum term contract.

    People will leave Sky Sports if they don't have football, Amazon can damage Sky hugely, a competitor.


    They might even up the price of Amazon Prime, they might start bundling, if you want the football bundle it's £15 a month.

    It's very doable for the size of Amazon to get this, Jeffy B could look down the back of his sofa and probably find a few billion.
