I don't think it will happen but when Usyk retires Opetaia will rule the realm.

Opetaia needs a few fights at heavyweight first, maybe Fury though that’s probably way too hopeful

    Next hype.
    Usyk is a different level.
Usyk is also 38 so soon a range of young fighters will be able to beat him, doesn't mean they're anything special.
Usyk isn't Zhang, a giant who lugs around trying to one-punch people, and who is still losing fights even when he lands.

We need to pump the brakes on Opi here fellas. Especially touting him as future HW champ. He needs to first clean up the division he's in and not stink up the joint while doing it like he stunk vs Breidis. I can tell you his father and team were down in the dumps the day after that fight. Ok they set him up with that Aussie kid to get get his confidence up.

Nah. Unless Usyk ages drastically overnight he outboxes Opetaia to a comfortable UD.

He's a good guy but had a small frame for a heavy. I like Jai a lot, but Usyk is the third man to come from cruiser and win a heavyweight title, and Jai has so show that he is on that level. Hearn can't talk him into it.

I'm not confident Opetaia can beat Usyk. If Usyk drains in weight back to CW, it could affect him negatively but I think Usyk has enough skill and cardio to still get the job done. If Opetaia moves up to HW, and actually looks good against serious competition, im talking very strong gatekeepers at the very worst at the minimum, not second-rate fighters like McKean then we could talk.

What'll say is that Opetaia may have the best chance of beating Usyk compared with Usyk's possible challengers. Dubois - we've seen that one before, a flash KO possible though but there are levels in terms of skill. Bakole and Zhang would be completely mesmerised by Usyk's footwork. Kabayel and Parker just isn't on Usyk's level.

Eventually, Old Man Usyk is going to have to defend his title against a non-British fighter. When that happens, the Heavyweight Championship of the World (the real version of it) changes hands. Fast Eddie is positioning Jai to be that guy after Usyk defends against the Daniel Dubois v Joseph Parker winner. Jai doesn't need tune-up fights at Heavyweight, btw. He's been fighting grown men in the Heavyweight division since he was 16 years old. He fought in the same division as Usyk at the London Olympics as a 17 year old. Put him in the ring with Usyk & let nature take its course.

    Nah

He is too small and he isn't slick enough to avoid someone like Dubois or Bakole who would just smother and KO him

I'd like to see Opetai clean up at CW first if he's gonna make the move.

All other successful jumps have come after cleaning out the opposition (Holyfield, Haye, Usyk)

There's big fights to be had at CW against Ramirez, Jack, CBS, Papin.

If he can do that and then maybe a Gassiev at HW it sets him up well imo.

The only CW fight left for Jai is Zurdo.

CBS lasts a few rounds because he’s brave but suffers the same fate as Nyika.

Badou Jack? Is that a joke? Jack is 100 years old. Opetaia might actually kill the guy.

    Papin? Hilarious. He’s beaten nobody.

Opetaia would not even beat Dubois

A semi retired Breidis had him running around the ring like Bambi on ice once he started throwing punches.

Lets be real here. Hair transplants knowledge of boxing is poor, as his stable proves he has not got an eye for a fighter.
