It was a last minute replacement. Opetaia was actually supposed to fight his IBF mandatory that night.

I'm not sure after seeing him getting beat down by Briedis in late rounds in both fights.

In fairness Briedis is the second best CW on the planet.

And he also gave Usyk his toughest ever fight.

Those two things mean that Opetaia is not as far off as some think. Personally I don’t have him beating Usyk. But he’d be some chance in a very competitive fight.

Like Jai a lot, but doubt we will ever see an Aussie heavyweight champion. They tend to be shared between the warrior nations (Brits, Americans & Ukrainians)

There are no HWs current or coming down the pipeline (soon) or CWs that can beat Usyk.

Whenever Hearn says something complimentary about anyone it is best to check if he promotes them. The answer is almost invariably yes.

Opetaia's best wins are razor-close fights against an underrated but ancient Briedis. His CW resumé since than had been horrible. He's passed the eye test, but against guys who we expected him to run through.

The CW division is there to be unified. He should stop wasting time, fight Zurdo (a solid test he should pass), grab the other belt off Jack, and then move up.

I don't know, beating that overweight jelly roll Fury doesn't inspire in me any confidence
