Clottey will provide exposure, and really should be a safe fight at this point, it's very good matchmaking by Hearn. Why fight Alexander right now? Kell has limited name value in the USA, and if he loses to Alexander he's dismissed as a hype job from over seas.

I think he should just fight some over the hill, once big names and he should fight them at home just to gain some more publicity abroad. I would say after his fight on the 7th he should be looking at increasing his publicity over the following year. Mallignaggi, maybe Denton Vassell if they can hype up some kind of undefeated gimmick, then some one big state side again like Alexander. Super undefeated mega fight with Mark Jones, then the world is his oyster.

He's past that point now where he needs to be fed over-the-hill former world champions.

The Alexander fight would've been excellent for him. He's a big name in America, and it would've propelled his status for definite if he won.

 

That's a perfectly viable excuse.

If he don't currently feel comfortable or 100% fighting at that weight, then he shouldn't fight in it.
