“It’s very likely that after Fury-Usyk 1, the belts will fragment,” Hearn told Boxing Social. “Particularly the IBF. If that fragments and Joshua beats Wallin on Dec. 23rd, it would be Hrgovic against Joshua. But by then it’s very likely that Joshua-Wilder could be contracted and probably will be contracted. “We won’t be able to U-turn at that point. We’re full steam ahead trying to make the Wilder fight. WBC final eliminator? If that’s what it’s called. I would just call it the biggest fight in boxing at that point. When that fight happens and the only way that fight happens is if they both win on December 23rd on the same card. And if they do win on the same card, on the same night, that fight is the biggest fight in boxing.” Seems I was right, it will be AJ-Wilder for WBC eliminator, if everything goes right. Both Wallin and Parker are challange, more Parker-Wilder is ? than AJ-Wallin, WIlder never fought Parker level opponent before and Won. Seems Hearn is predicitng Undisputed champ will relinquish its belt, naturally eather Usyk or Fury both wouldnt have any real point of fighting, especially Usyk, having conquered 2 divisions + Olympic Gold. Going by the expected results, IBF will be ordering Hrgovic vs Anderson for the belt.
It has been obvious from the beginning that the belts are going to fragment. The undisputed is a one-time only deal. Also, Parker isn't as good as Ortiz.
Wilder's win over Ortiz in 2018 would still be better imo. Ortiz may have been beating nobodies (except Jennings, a performance for which he definitely was juiced to gills for) but he was still a dangerous and crafty fighter. I would have ranked him at number 4/5 then, and probably 9/10 for the second fight.
Still undefeated and with very solid fundamentals, he was a legit top 10 heavyweight and for me in the top 5 (behind AJ and Wilder).
I don't believe a word coming out of Hearn mouth, like AJ vs Wilder is literally "done" for December, right? If AJ won, it will be Hrgovic, as AJ want to be World Champion for 3rd. time. Wilder fight may wait, but Hrgovic fight can't, as someone else will replace AJ. Also AJ vs Wilder will be bigger, if a title is on the line, so zero sense for AJ to fight Wilder first. As far as Parker Ortiz, it's Parker > Ortiz all day long in terms of resume. Parker even now is going to be Wilder best win, which speaks volume for Wilder resume. As far as how Ortiz - Parker would have played out, we don't know, and i'm living in the reality, not some mythical fantasy world, where we are playing guessing games. Boxing is all about style, so you never know. But Jenning best achievement was showing Klitschko's age, nothing else. So Ortiz resume was beyond garbage.
aj will never take that fight. He wants the path of least resistance which is Hrgovic, but even then Hrgovic probably still wins
