Hearn seems to care more about Devin Haney than Luke Campbell?

OP is another matchroom fan who is slowly realising the spin about 'UK is the new home of Boxing' is actually not true.

    I’ve got a counter argument / question.

Should Sky and BT be throwing more money at boxing so we can secure the best fights over here and not necessarily PPV.

I’ll be one of the first to tell you that DAZN and now along with Toprank/ESPN are taking our best fighters, throwing huge sums at them and taking the show over the pond. But SKY and BT seem to be doing **** all about it.

Why didn’t sky get Linares over for Campbell like they did for Crolla? Why didn’t BT stump up the cash for Lemieux to come to the UK for Saunders, why is Fury vs Schwarz happening in the US?

They’re just sitting back and letting these yank companies pillage them and give them scraps - poor fight nights and 3/4/5/6am shows.

    My account must've been hijacked.

The return isn't there for them. They're committing so much money to football rights that something's got to give somewhere.

Yeah true but they risk losing it to a DAZN or similar type “app”. Be interesting to see if/how both BT and SKY renew their exclusive deals with Queensbury/Matchroom or will they be lured away by a streaming service.

It’s all Business what don’t people understand about that.
How many people subscribe to Sky or BT for Boxing only ? ZERO
How many people would quit Sky or BT if they stopped showing live boxing ? ZERO

They are businesses who make money off PPV. That’s why they are in the game. It’s so funny and sad when people get so nationalistic over boxing and promoters like Eddie Hearn. They are here to make money, nothing more, nothing less.

It will be fascinating because the UK sports market is highly competitive and there's vast sums invested in the platforms.

From the promoters side, there's pressure from the fighters to get the best money and the greatest exposure. Any new player like a streaming platform would need deep pockets.

Some of it you have to blame on the fighters too. Some of them are way to quick to jump at the first pay check from the states and abandon their UK fans, when if they tried to build a legacy in the UK they might have more success in the long run like Bellew and others have done recently.

When you could get KOed in your next fight I don't really blame the fighters for taking US money. While the PPV situation at the moment is silly how many guys actually become PPV fighters and get the huge paydays? I don't expect fighters to show 'loyalty' to their fans, and at the same time I never support fighters just because they are British.
