With Canelo, Yarde and Smith busy, Bivol no longer has a valid opponent while waiting for the winner of Buatsi vs Azeez. Golovkin has no opponent with an interesting risk and reward at 160 and 168. Eubank Jr could have been interesting but Smith took it down. Without saying it would be a huge success, the fight would be an easy sell. It would have to be played on the aspect that the two are Canelo's best opponents. It would be enough to put a catchweight at 172 to balance Golovkin's age handicap.
Absolutely not. Gvodzyk or C.Smith. Not sure if the OP means Joe Smith or Callum, but his fight with Beterbeast has been postponed.
Someone needs to sit down with those two Russians and show them the tape of Carlos Zarate and Alfonso Zamora. Say these guys were the two champions. The WBC and the WBA refused to sanction a unification, so they fought anyway to decide who was best. And just do it already. Christ. These "belt collecting" Eastern Europeans need to be reminded that they can still fight whether the fight is sanctioned by an org or not.
Golovkin is as stiff as a tree these days. You'd have to rewind him some five years back to hang with a guy as big and fluid as Bivol. I think stylistically it would have been a great match, pitting GGG's economical jab-based style against Bivol's busy 1-2 style. The footwork in the match would have been superb. But today, Bivol beats GGG.
