Macklin got himself a fight on HBO, why does he need Matchroom?

Eddie should spend his time and money building up John Ryder.

Agreed. Matt can't have many fights left, surely?

A bit late in the day, which is a shame. That quartet of middleweights has died a death in recent months. Macklin's the only one left really and his career has come to a grinding halt.

Hearn just tweeted that he'll be putting on a show in Dublin in August. So I wouldn't be surprised if the Macklin vs Lee fight is finally made.

Ryder would be on the card as well I presume. His father is Irish.

I guess DiBella got tired of Mack's losing efforts when he stepped up in class.Good for Eddie to cash in with damaged goods in a showdown with Lee.

Definately looks like a short term financial desicion rather than a long term boxing project. Probably in the best intrests of both Macklin and Hearn to have a few money making fights in Britain / Ireland before he retires.

Can't help but think Macklin v Lee is a few years too late though

Also, what happened to Lee movingh down to Light-Middle, moving back up again?

I was thinking maybe Matt Macklin had another World title in him, but with him leaving DiBella and America he must know himself that he can't cut it with the big boys anymore.

I doubt that's the reason he left DiBella ....it had more to do with possibly Matt feeling let down by Lou when his fight with Geale got scrapped with 10 days to go. Probably felt Lou didn't fight his corner hard enough. Matt got gazzumped at the last minute after a long camp etc in favour of Geale v GGG...
