He is a trier and he is trying, but in his own way.

I don't think EH threw him under a bus, he was frustrated with the event as it didn't all go his way.

Dave Allen seems a very likeable bloke, and i am sure with the right guidance will one day shock some people.

The guy has balls, he loves to have a fight, and never says no to one.

Just wish he would look at himself and say do you know what, i'm not that bad imagine what i could do if i actually took it serious.
He has had a hard start in the game, but that often turns in to better things...

Didn't FW do something similar with Kevin Mitchell when he got blown away by Michael Katsidis? I maybe wrong though as it was a while ago. But yeah, like channy says, frustration probably got the better of EH and he said exactly what was on his mind.

Dont see what the fuss is here, Allen is British level at best and has shown total disdain for the opportunity given to him. He could have had some tasty paydays at British level as an under card fighter for many years to come on Matchroom shows. Hearn said he will give him another chance so lets see if he takes it seriously. Hope he starts believing in himself because he could make a few quid out of this if he tried.

eddie was on his rag and needed a soft target to blow some steam on.

some valid points but no need to say all that in public.

If Allen did what he was accused of on the day of the fight then in my opinion he is a fool and Hearn had every right to give it to him both barrels, especially if leading up to the fight Allen didn't prepare properly.

Allen has been very lucky, he is a nice man, funny man and does have something about him, he is tough but his performances and opponents have not been good enough to earn a shot at a commonwealth title and Hearn gave him a huge opportunity and got him a title shot off the back of virtually nothing.

Allen was beaten back to back by Whyte and then Ortiz, from there he beat Rusiewicz 22-28-0 and Howe 12-4-0 and gets a shot at the commonwealth title.

So if Hearn was seriously upset that Allen isn't living the life and on the day of the fight was walking around, meeting fans, taking selfies and having a bit of a giggle in that heat over the weekend and after he does all that goes and puts in that kind of lack lustre performance I think Hearn was bang on and Allen is lucky Hearn hasn't just cut him loose.

Eddie Hearn just trying some Mourinho tactics, anything Dave does now is a plus, he's already overachieved

I remembered telling Eddie that Ricky Burns wasn't anywhere as affective against southpaws when asked, Eddie in his wisdom puts him in with 3/8 since the Beltran fight and has lost each of them.
Promoters need to promote not be a coach, afterall they generally only see them at press conferences and weigh ins

I felt sorry for dave on sat, yes he lost that fight but he seemed to gass late on in the biggest fight of his life, if one of my fighters gassed I'd be gutted

Allen's behavior is exactly what has given him the popularity he's managed to receive. Hearn was implicit in that by putting him on such a high platform. People like and watch Allen because of his character as opposed to his boxing; Hearn can't have it both ways.

But as stated, he was still more than happy to feed him to Ortiz in one of the great pointless fights of our time.

come on billy we have been over this a thousand times now, why didn't you work on his inability to box southpaws in the gym? as his coach that was obviously your job?? stop looking for other people to take the blame for you not doing your job when he was with you:thinking::thinking:

I have to agree with you on the promoters promoting but sometimes if the opportunity arises you have to take the chance i.e. Ricky getting the chance against rocky Martinez. no way did Ricky deserve that shot but he took it and the rest is history:thumbsup:

lets be honest you wouldn't have trained him to be in that shape on fight night anyway, maybe he needs to head up to your gym to see what real hard graft is:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Agree a promotor should promote ,a trainer train , and a manager manage So once we have sorted that lets get to what there job is .

A managers job is to get the easiest fights and the easiest way to the top , while securing the best paydays for his boxer .

A promoters job , is to sell good fights to the public , hard good fights ,Even fights , and make money if possible , or else why bother, and that includes fighting southpaws if they have a similar record

A trainers job is to make sure the boxer , is in condition to fight , and got the skills to fight , and that includes having his fighter up to standard on fighting any southpaw at the same level , when your on the way to the top or AT THE TOP , what comes after my lad can't fight southpaws , cos i've not taught him , is it , we don't want to fight him he hits hard , followed by not him he hits back .
