Yeah apparently Chavez wants it at 163/164 but Macklin wants it at 160 obviously. I wonder if Barker will accept the fight at 163/4?

I rate barker as the best of our domestic middleweights.

I can understand taking the martinez fight with problems he had just couldnt refuse shot at world title.however why go and fight on away ground with everything against you with no title at stake?

can see this being very similar to andy lee-chavez jr fight.barker will be ahead on the cards and the significant weight advantage will tell in latter rounds and end up with barker stopped.

I like barker seems like a cool guy, but he isn't very good really is he...european level at most. I thought his performance against martinez was pitiful just covered up and fought like a european level fighter. He is tony bellew-lite. Less provado but same negative, basic style that won't threaten anyone above european level

Nonsense, Barker fought a smart tactical fight against Martinez and almost managed to pull it off. Lately he's shown to be a bit more spiteful and looks for the finish right from the off definitely not Bellew-like.

Chavez appears incredibly big and strong at the weight. I think you need to have technique, stamina and durability to beat him. Even if you start bright he seems to really put the hurt on you and make that 25 pounds of rehydration count.

Bollocks did he nearly pull it off. If by covering up and doing nothing is a smart tactical fight then boxing will be in the gutter with **** like that and bellew being 'smart' by boring the audience to death.

Barker can be compared to his team chelsea. They are anti-football with their negative tactics, whilst barker is anti-boxing with his negative style.

Not hating on the guy, really seems a nice guy and a very good european fighter. But when you talking world level you have to be brutally honest and as its a forum only fair to give an opinion that he hasn't got a chance in beating chavez.

Chavez will brutally KO macklin, barker will bore us to death the first 6 rounds before being stopped, murray perhaps has the best chance but again will come short against chavez.

should be a decent payday then hes still got options for big domestic fights to keep him relevant to sky

hes got to do something his comeback fights have been shocking nights for ticket sales and viewers

all the british middleweights are now 30 they need to make there money and get out martin murray has said as much recently in interview

I thought Barker fought a smart fight too, he just underestimated the speed of Martinez and couldn't commit to his shots too much as a result.

A bit different to Bellew running for the hills against Ovil McKenzie.

If Barker had the stamina, he'd win IMO.

I see him winning a lot of rounds but being stopped late when he runs out of gas and Chavez will come on strong.

`Chavez simply too big and strong. Andy Lee was doing well until Chavez eventually walked him down, id expect very similar to happen with Barker.

Its not a slight on Barker, but your talking about a guy who is huge come fight night.

hmm can't see him winning it.

so he goes over there, gets stopped, has to "rebuild", probably another long spell off

hopefully he gets a good payday

    cue wazzla caning ed again:
"he's pwopa norty, sending his boxers overseas in big fights, I tell you what - if he was with me I'd deliver a half-sold arena, on boxnation against some nobody. But by God, he'd win a title(WBO)"
