Why on earth, apart from money, has Eubank agreed to the same weight cut as last time, in view of the distress he was in?
Binged The Greatest Showman on Netflix — highly watchable, though it feels more like a scripted reality TV show than a documentary. Say what you want about Eddie Hearn, unravelling or not he’s a relentless workaholic, and Matchroom HQ runs like a well-oiled machine. Still, it’s always about the £££ with him — he even said outright he’d take Turki’s money whether he liked him or not. That £1.5bn valuation for Matchroom? Pure fantasy. £250m turnover and £50m profit are impressive, but nowhere near that ballpark. And he’s clearly scrambling for a new UK PPV star to replace AJ — Warren’s got Moses coming through, while AJ, Conor, and Fisher are all one bad night from being finished. Also, crazy how darts has blown up — but I guess it’s perfectly suited to the British crowd, pint in hand, roaring for the 180s. Good series though, and it shines a light on the sport — although it’s arguably still the Eddie Hearn show. In fact, The Only Way is Eddie Hearn might have been a more fitting title.
Emily (the blonde lass who ran the pool) was my favourite on it. What I noticed is that some of the fights weren’t in order. It showed them at Fisher v Babic saying we need to win this one after Joshua v Dubois but the Fisher fight was a few months before Joshua v Dubois Thought Hearn came across alright tbh. Much better than in interviews. Enjoyed it until Benn and his bird turned up with the fake tears about how hard done by he’s been. Claiming he was on the brink of suicide. Bare faced liar.
Not really, you can’t lie and talk a load of crap and when you get pulled up on in it conveniently pull a ‘tribute’ out of your arse. Why would they be tributing Hatton half way through the press conference?
I actually didn’t clock the timeline gaps with Fisher v Babic, but it explains a lot — they were desperate to show a Matchroom win after the 5v5 loss to Queensbury and AJ getting knocked. Like you, I cringed when Conor put on the waterworks, and it would’ve been overkill if they’d shown Fisher getting sparked, so I get why the timeline ended when it did. Still enjoyed it though. No surprise all the promoters secretly hate each other but will always unite for a pound note. The late-night calls to Claridge’s made it crystal clear — they’re all dancing to Turki’s tune now.
Made me laugh when Turki was basically saying to Hearn that Johnny Fisher is crap after the first Allen fight and Hearn said ‘how would you know, you’ve spent all fight taking selfies’
Not going to lie, I gave it a go. Given Eddie said his sister refused to have anything to do with it, it's the Eddie and Barry show by default. Hearn's clearly-for-TV antics backstage at the Price-Serrano fight kind of summed it up tbh.
Well, not gonna lie either… I thought Skye would’ve had more of a spotlight in the series, but I guess some stories were never going to make the cut. And that painting of Barry was one of the most narcissistic things I’ve seen.
That Emily woman has got no partner, no kids and has spent her whole life trying to impress Barry Hearn. She couldn't stop saying that throughout the show. I want to impress Barry, I want him to be proud of me. She's let her prime years go by and for what? The Hearns? She's stupid in my opinion. Fair enough, work hard at your job but don't neglect settling down and having a family just because you want to impress Barry bloody Hearn. She's going to end up with 7 cats now after the Hearns sell up for a billion. Mad how he's she living her life but not surprising of the women thesedays. Thick as anything.
Yep Benn and his silly bint. They've both got no shame. They both know what he did. All that crap about suicide is complete rubbish.
Well, I don’t know why but this made me laugh way more than it should have — could imagine Ray Winstone saying it in Nil by Mouth.
She said a lot of other things too which didn't make the edit, so I wouldn't be so quick to assess her life choices. It's TV mate , no matter how 'behind the scenes' its made out to be it follows a storyline and narrative, hence things like the timeline of the fights being rejigged etc. I'm 4 episodes in and have yet to appear so may not have made the edit myself even though I saw a fair bit of what I've watched being filmed.
