Thought Warden's flagship huge card on Sat was a stonker and well behind the Josh Taylor fight on Channel 5 in terms of excitement and entertainment. The Frampton fight this Sat and the announcement of opponents for De Gale's card feel exactly the same. Warden really has to step up big time or he may end up like Kellie Maloney soon.
This time next year is the time to really analyse Frank/BT. After years fighting to stay afloat, he needed at least this year to get his stable/plans into place. He says hes booked the 02 for a PPV in April which is interesting. He needs to Deliver Selby - Warrington Frampton big fight in the summer etc Then continue to develop his young talent and he’s doing well imo He’s already putting heat on Hearn interms of non PPV even if matchroom cheerleaders refuse to acknowledge it - that’s why Hearn is linning up fights like Okolie- Chamberlain so it’s good news for all of us.
Hearn is speaking out of his arsehole. If sky want a fight, they will get it regardless of what Eddie thinks. I admire matchrooms success, but there is no way that a company like sky which is part of a global news enterprise would have a contract with a bunch of used car salesmen from Essex that Would infeory prevent them from purchasing an event if Eddie/Barry opposed it - it’s ridiculous.
Really? I didn't think it was that bad. Main event was OK, not as good as the first but it was still alright. Leather-Foot was good and I thought Ward-Davies was enjoyable. Gorman-Soltby was pants thugh
The only way Frank catches matchroom is if Dubois is the real deal and dethrones AJ. DeGale and Selby are good stable additions but neither have set the world a light. Can he turn Yarde in to a PPV star too? He really needs to utilise Flanagan some how too. He’s on the verge of being a two weight world champion but nobody has a clue who he is.
So you believe Eddie Hearn publicly would state such a thing and undermine a company like Sky in the process. Not buying it, his not that stupid. Oh look Hearn just tweeted Kovalev v Vyacheslav on Nov 25th will be on Skysports.
To be fair regarding canelo vs GGG, sky were never gonna get that and Floyd vs McGregor. Sky and eddie chose the fight which would earn them the most money.
Mate, Hearn is part of the team we know that I’m not saying he’s not. What I did say was in the unlikely event of say - Mayweather v Macgreggor 2 being announced and sky wanted it, but Hearn didn’t - there is zero chance that contractually Eddie could prevent it - in reality he will be told what’s happening
Edde's Opinion will i'm sure will be taken into consideration and be valued. However you have to remember it is ultimately coming from Sky's Budget not Matchroom's.However i do remember a interview from Hearn on IFL about Sky getting Frampton-Santa Cruz 2 he states he phoned up Jake Mcguigan and was the one who got the Deal Finalised.Their are so many at Sky/Matchroom i really dont know who is the Powerbreaker. Is it Barney Francis(MAnaging Director)Adam Smith(Head of Boxing)Eddie Hearn,Ed Robinson(Producer of Sky boxing)
The BT card was fine. Wasn't the most exciting card we've seen, but it was solid. Boxing can go any way no matter who you put together, it was by no means a snorefest. A cracking chief support and a decent, close, tactical main event. We've seen a lot worse on sky. Taylor is a special fighter and Scotland is a special atmosphere. Not many fighters or venues in Britain could produce that intensity/excitement.
It was a solid card but the promotion for it was horrendous. The week before Frank was on IFL and started going on about Belfast and then the copperbox show, it was James/Kiran (ive forgot now) who had to remind him about his upcoming show that Saturday, Smith Williams 2.
Just felt that switching from Channel 5 to BT last Sat felt like walking out a lively nightclub into an empty Kebab shop.
I do feel it's only fair to reiterate that the Taylor card was awful overall. I was there from the very start and with the exception of Taylor of course and the chief support and to some extent Chantelle Cameron the rest of the fights were total mismatches with zero entertainment value.
