Hearn vs warren

Think a lot ppl don't like Hearn as he comes across as greedy , he puts on a lot ppvs with very poor undercard etc. He uses excuse etc amount he has to pay Joshua.

Hearn has said he has made money on all ppv except bellew he broke even for so why not speculate to accumulate build up bigger fights break even or slight loss to build it or tell Joshua he make more long run if done properly


I don't know exact figures but say for takam fight but say Joshua got paid 10 mill y not take 7.5 take other 2.5 get 2 great undercard fights then sell it to his other fighters tell them 3 huge fights on card.you can be on this bill be paid well huge exposure etc not rocket science and if Joshua is gettin some of the ppv sales more ppl will buy it if a great card.

Problem is for hardcore fans casual will pay watch Joshua knock out anyone. Don't care or even know half ppl he fights but I imagine the takam fight didn't do anywhere near as good as klitscho .

TBH it's same as negotiations Parker wilder etc moaninin over 5 percent etc Joshua still gettin paid great money if he wins which should it's even bigger money and he wins belts rather fighting nobodies. Hey just an opinion

 

I don’t think anybody on here actually hates Hearn and if they do, they are probably middle aged with no bird, fat, bald and living with their mother.
Anyway, the problem I have with him is not so much with the PPVs (at the end of the day we have a choice to buy or not) it’s the pathetic Saturday fight nights that he has been dishing up for the last 18 months or so which as sky sports subscribers we are paying a monthly sub. He needs to step his game up, in this area as Hearn would never in a million years do what frank is doing and put on a bill with Degale & Selby next week without chucking it on PPV undercard. This has to improve if he is going to hold ff Franks charge back to the top- it would also be good news for us, the paying punters.

 

The Saturday Fight Nights have been awful- often worse than the Cyclone shows on Channel 5.

 

When was the last great UK boxing show? On any platform?

I don’t think there been one in the past 12 months.

 

Tbf people are not paying for sky sports just for the boxing. The fights recently are NextGen shows which are for his less experienced fighters. These boxers are starting their pro careers so they will be in easier fights. People complain but they still watch it. Put yourself in Eddie's shoes - you have a business making money so why would you change anything if it's working. If anything he is getting bigger and making boxing popular again so the likes of Warren does not stand a chance.

 

Sky have changed the pricing/channels to more suit individual sports fans. I’m only really interested in the football & Boxing so I pay for I think the action & PL channels which covers those sports...

I’m sorry but how is Hearns NXTGEN shows making boxing bigger?? These shows are terrible. I think your mixing in what he has done in the past which was excellent and the AJ PPV stuff and let’s be honest, even he probably only has about 1 year left before the hype starts to die down and by then he will be looking to part from Hearn to go on his own under AJ promos...

The topic is Hearn V Warren, and frank is on the move again, and rolling the dice with good non PPV cards like next weeks- he could potentially also make some really big fights next year involving Frampton/Selby etc - is Hearn going to be willing to match/better him or is he going to continue to rely on AJ and one off freak shows like Haye-Bellew on PPV..

 

The NXTGEN shows are getting the inexperienced pros in the limelight so when they do eventually step up then they will have a bigger fan base resulting in more money - good business sense to me.
Warren will make these shows but he will do exactly the same as Hearn - Frampton / Selby etc on PPV with Cr*p undercard. The reason for this is because his top fighters will demand high money so won't be able to afford better support fights.
Hearn will keep making these shows because people are watching them and I can't see that changing anytime soon even if he did lose AJ.

 

Txt lemeuix vs Saunders is better than anything on non ppv hearn has done and if he had this fight it would be ppv.
A get u sayin experiene for the guys on next gen but have a headline fight with it or one or 2 50 50 fights sum cards are awful. As some others said it used be decent cards now getting worse hearn has such a big stable he shouod be able get them on and get good fights buy he doesn' want to take any sort hit to profit. Even his ppv undercsrd are awful

 

I agree with you that they have been bad. I have been to most of them recently however he is making money and filling out stadiums/arenas and that's his business. He doesn't need to spend more to make more and I am sure most people would do exactly the same if they owned matchroom.
Warren will have to go the PPV route because that's the big money and if the likes of Frampton Degale don't get enough then they will walk.

 

Hearns entire business is almost solely based on PPV and is a very short term thing.

If something goes wrong with AJ hearn is basically toast. Bellew can’t sell on his own and will be gone in a fight or 2, Brooks now worn out and damaged from GGG and Spence and that’s all he’s got PPV wise.


Look at the Haye cancellation...Hearn was planning to do the usual and sling the Olympians on using the undercard budget only for that to go tits up and he’s left scrambling around bc ‘I’ve got to get the boys a run out koogs’

Ok let’s look at some of these prospects who have been performing on NXGEN..

Okolie- do you honestly think he is building a following from some of the jokers who he has been fighting? I would say he is no further forward then a year ago.

Chamberlain- if you go on Twitter up to about 2 weeks ago people close to him where openly discussing about how badly Hearn was treating him..I think it was the last NXGEN show when Sky didn’t show his fight live..I think we got highlights of the last few rounds towards the end of the broadcast! What a way to build a profile for the lad..

Look at the Joe cordina farce on the AJ Cardiff undercard...poor guy didn’t even get to fight after doing tickets in his own country.

This all leads back to Hearn and his dependence on PPV. He should be building these kids on proper fight nights, not cheap gimmicks in the York hall. NXGEN is a quick and easily disguise that his fight cards have been utter trash- they are not building careers and if I had the viewing figures I bet they where seriously low.

 

If Saunders was Eddie’s fighter he would have won the purse bid!

Don’t try and big Frank up by pointing out Eddies faults because he’s done all the same and worse!

Frank has his plus points. Eddie does.

Bellew Haye was getting criticised but that’s a better main event than the boys are back in town. Fielding Skoglund was a better undercard fight than anything on that card too. Brook was gona get an outing, Kelly was and a few others.

This Warren card is 4 pointless fights. It’s ****. He can’t even sell out the Copperbox. It’s **** poor.

Frank was got a talented stable. But he doesn’t utilise them properly, nor promote then properly. Dubois and Yarde need to step up domestically ASAP. Flanagan has been let down terribly. Frampton needs that Santa Cruz fight. Time for Barrett to step up too. BJS is in a dangerous fight only because it was mandatory. Frank protects his fighters more than anyone.

 

There was no purse bid for Lemieux - Saunders. That’s because frank did a deal with GBP who had HBO available for a prime time slot in the US for the fight. If billy wins he is In line to either fight Canelo Or GGG On HBO PPV. It’s laughable to suggest Hearn would have won a purse bid or even not done a similar deal in those circumstances.

Dubious is almost exactly the same position opponent wise as AJ was at this point in Darch if we use him as the example. Yarde is also starting to get through to the mainstream as he is being pushed by BT- it’s just nonsense to suggest there not being pushed by Frank. Yarde opponent is a step up, and I will be looking for another step up for the fight afterwards.

LSC is not coming to fight in Belfast, his Papi has already made that clear - and no Hearn wouldnt be able to deliver it either. anyway I doubt Frampton/MTK really want him too anyway - it’s 1-1 leave it there. It will be an easier on paper World title fight- probably Valdez or Selby assuming he fights and beats Warrington.

Flanagan situation is a let down, but I more blame his manager, steve wood who is usually no nonsense. He hasn’t said much so we must assume frank is following their instructions. GBP promotions came out and said they had received a very good offer for Linaries, so It sounds like Terry has decided to fcuk the fight off & go up.

Zelfa Barrett’s career is dictated by his uncle Pat, who up until the fight on the Leeds card was promoting him on his own cards BC on boxnation.

 

Selby - Warrington is being announced on Monday according to reports...a fight Hearn couldn’t get done.

Plus frank will be announcing his early 2018 schedule.

Meanwhile, Hearn has spent the week being widely bashed for the Haye - Bellew farce, turning down a top fight for Yafai and setting up another PPV for ‘no mas’ Brook...and some people are really still adamant that Hearn is out of Franks firing range...

 

Let's be fair here, that fight didn't get done before because Warrington's team actually came out and said they didn't want to fight Selby. In fact they left Hearn because he pushed for that fight...

As for the fight itself I hope it does get announced on Monday, I'm a Selby fan and been wanting him to get a big domestic scrap for a while. Just hoping tomorrow night isn't any sort of banana skin with that dude coming in well over the weight.
