Frank has had a touch really. His fighter is getting paid more than he could pay him and is going to get promoted in overdrive by the Hearn/SKY/DAZN promotional machine. Not that he isn’t already but BJS will be a household name after this.
We have seen times where a network (boxnation) has exclusive rights for top rank shows in the UK but the UK fighter challenging for the title is on matchroom when going to america. That broadcast then goes on the away fighters network (sky) and the exclusive top rank contract (boxnation) have excludes that fight.
I was thinking this before yesterday. Saunders isn't a big ticket seller so trying to fill an arena for this fight wouldn't of been easy. Now Warren doesn't have to absorb the costs.
True. Where this this differs is the sense sky have an agreement with DAZN. If box Nation had a exclusive deal with hbo for example I would assume would be the same situation if a matchroom fighter fought on that network.
Just shows when the crunch comes Hearn & Sky just flatten Warren & BT. Don’t be surprised if the same deal is done with Fury in the future.
So now after years of loyalty to boxnation, subscribers have had to pay for a BT sport subscription to follow Queensbury promotions fighters... and Now they have to pay for sky sports to follow their flagship fighter. Another blinder Frank. Well played
What he could do. Say Hearn offers a BJS a great deal to go the US but the fight would be on Sky in the UK, warren cant really tell BJS no. The alternative could be a purse bid which may well result in less money for his fighter or pays he BJS and Andrade more for a fight that probably wouldnt be too big in the UK. Its unfortunate but if BJS is getting a great payday then not really sure Warren can do much about how its played out on TV.
Given both fighter's history I'll still be gobsmacked if they actually meet in the ring on this date. Potentially a VERY dull fight but it's an excellent matchup
Well if he remains his 'promoter' I expect him to carry out his role to the best of his ability and promote this Sky Sports event!
I think Quigg last fought on a top rank show and that was on sky. It's exclusive as long as there's not a uk fighter on the bill
