Yup, but he will be referring to the vegan sausage rolls sales from greggs near the 02.
Maybe say Sky are scalling back boxing as cards are not good enough.
Hearn would be freaked.
I'm a bigger Hearn fan than most on here, but this is a below average card.
I'm weirdly interested in Allen/Browne, but this show is missing a proper main event.
Browne/Allen will be entertaining, but for all the wrong reasons. Both will gas early and club each other until one falls. Entertaining perhaps, but not what you expect for the headline of an O2 show. How does Dave Allen get this slot after the abysmal performance he put in last time out? We should be getting world title fights on a Saturday night ffs.
I think it also says a lot about the poor transition of British boxing when cards are dependant on Derek Chisora, at this stage of his career. Derek has always been a good opponent, an underdog who brings action. However, he's past his best and coming off a knock out loss. Matched against poor opposition, Derek isn't usually worth watching.
This is as much evidence you'll get to prove Eddie has spread himself way too thin, and is neglecting Britain. I honestly thought this would be a good card, with Eddie silencing the critics. I was wrong. He obviously doesn't care, DAZN is his first, second and third priority these days.
I was reminded of this quote from Hearn
"Our plan is for 16 shows a year which includes 12 traditional championship fight nights and 4 absolute jambusters. That means monster, pay-per-view style shows but for no extra fee. We will be signing the big-name world champions and making sure they box 2, 3 or 4times a year. We can deliver for all fighters across out 16 shows"
Eddie just can't help himself when he opens his mouth. Perhaps he does have good intentions most of the time, but talking is one thing, delivering is a whole other thing. At the moment his IFL interviews look like a bloke down the pub who can't handle his drink and talks absolute pony.
It really is a sorry state of affairs. I've never been interested in wasteman Allen, Browne was in terrible shape last fight, Chisora's opponent is ranked 172 on Boxrec and Kelly's has a KO % of 18%.
Thing is it's not as if Matchroom have any stiff competition to keep them honest. If all they have to compete against is Yarde vs TBA they will keep doing as they are.
Technically from a levels point of view this isn’t even on par with Pulev/Fury.
It’ll be an entertaining main event but you do have to wonder what on Earth Hearn is spending his rights fees on.
I thought Josh Kelly was ready for the best of the division? And as for Allen v Browne lol that should be one of the first fights of the night on a half decent card. Making it main event is taking the mickey. At least we have the mighty future world champion Conor Benn to go life and death with some 3-56 Luxemborg journeyman to further cement him credentials as a future star.
What Eddie is doing with his Sky money is a good question. He said he was trying to make his April card: Chisora-Parker Hunter-Takam as well as Browne-Allan. So how did we end up with this shìt-fest? Why not use the same budget and still make a good, respectable card?
Hearn isn't stupid, he knew the reaction this card was going to get. Yes you get some of the uninformed, Matchroom fanboys who'll lap anything up and think it's amazing, but most of the feedback I've saw online is negative. It really does look like Hearn doesn't give a flying fck about his UK and Sky customers anymore unless it's a PPV show. He can get away with it for now, while he has his contract with Sky. But if they're not happy, what do Sky do when it's contract renewal time? If there are other options out there? As @Holler suggested in another post, MTK could be ready to move in looking for a TV deal as they expand as a company.
I think we're at the very early stages of the current Sky TV model, slowing starting to die out anyway. Which isn't a bad thing. I wish we had DAZN, or somebody else doing the same, in the UK. I know having the rights to the football in the UK is the key to who is the main player when it comes to subscribers. But the rights will always go to the highest bidder, and who's to say DAZN won't come and spend silly money on all the football rights in the UK in the near future and take over here? That's exactly what I hope happens. It would be brilliant to have all your sports in the one monthly subscription package. As long as they priced it sensibly, I'd be well on board.
Some of the cards recently from both Hearn and Warren have been pathetic. Seems like the USA is suddenly the big priority.
What are Sky Sports making of all this I wonder?
Not even going to speak about BT as Frank's run with them has been so bad it's not even worth talking about.
Fine for York Hall but the 02? **** off Eddie you're turning in the kind of cards that Frank Warren was churning out when he was running the UK scene into the ground.
Turtle necks I'd say
I’d be surprised if it’s only half empty...
Pile of garbage
