Hearns / DAZN USA let go Michael Hunter cause he doesn't have enough twitter followers

I rate Dillian Whyte reasonably highly, and before the Alexander Povetkin bout I said that Dillian Whyte should win but I wouldn't give him too much credit because Alexander Povetkin is an old man and has never held a legitimate world title anyway. Another very good, but not great boxer.

With that said, Michael Hunter did better because he got a draw, but he was also not close to having Alexander Povetkin down. I think Dillian Whyte got too comfortable, and I know the forum disagrees, but although it was somewhat competitive, I think in Dillian Whyte's own mind it was so comfortable he lost the intensity and I don't think he factored in that Alexander Povetkin had that massive one punch in him. That's also what happens when your footwork is "pudding-like" to take from Jurgen, so Michael Hunter has that going for him.

My biggest issue with him is that I question his stamina. He started well against the Russian but then started to gas before the half way point. I don't think Oleksandr Usyk gasses like that.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Dillian Whyte Michael Hunter fight at some point. I've noticed a few people saying that Dillian Whyte's chin is not what it was following the Anthony Joshua fight and I would have to agree. Couple that with Michael Hunter's dynamic style and you have an interesting contest. These are the kind of fights that need to be made but it seems like Michael Hunter is being avoided. These clunky heavyweights want a sitting target.

Sadly money makes the world go round.

Hunter should take note of this from now on and look to put himself out there.

Engage with people on twitter, push for interviews with platforms like IFL, Boxing Social, Seckbach etc....

Makes perfect sense. Promoters and broadcaster s need fighters that pull numbers. Social media following indicates a reach of a fighter and their profile.

Hearn essentially said he wishes he had him from the start to build him properly. He’s now at his peak and has no appeal to a mainstream audience. But because he’s a Top 15 American heavyweight he probably wants six figures to fight.

    as a business if you have;

fighter A who brings 5, 000 PPV buys, sells 500 tickets and wants a $200k purse
    or
Fighter B who brings 10,000 PPV buys, sells 1,000 tickets and wants an $80k purse

it’s a simple decision. If Hunter brought more viewers to a platform promoters would be falling over themselves right now.

Big fan of Hunter's who i rate very highly ( I'd back him to beat all HWs bar Usyk and AJ).

Said when it happened Matchroom made a big mistake letting him go.

Hearn could raise his profile by:
    1. Putting a more recognised Matchroom star against him but meaning they probably take a loss on a bigger money earner who is less talented e.g. Whyte and Chisora for example.

    2. Try to increase his media repuation in the US by paying over the odds to get a more known HW in US from rival network such as Wilder, Ortiz, Kownacki and Ruiz (Hunter makes short work all of them I reckon). Haymon would ask for an extortionate amount of money for one of these guys to be the sacrifical lamb to Hunter similar to Martin vs AJ.

As if he would beat Fury. At best he would lose widely on points.

Exciting fighter, lots of heart, probably in the top 10, he really should be more popular. Americans don't seem to support their heavyweights the way Brits do anymore.

Hunters brilliant but lack of profile makes him high risk, low reward for promoters and opposing fighters.
He needs to just get on 10 big undercards in a year against bums and just knock them out to boost his profile as some sort of killer heavyweight, build up some hype and then chase the big fights the year after.

Apparently Hunter will now fight on the Gilberto Ramirez promotions event and on the undercard in December. Expect a keep busy level of opponent then.

Issue with that is it makes no sense for Hearn with only a shirt term agreement in place. PBC won’t let those guys fight him let’s face him Wilder or Ruiz would never have fought him as PBC only give those title fights to PBC fighters as they didn’t want to lose the belt. That leaves the likes of kownacki whose profile is arguably as small as hunters is. Both guys likely want $250k each in a bout that would be watched by some boxing hardcores

on top of this hearn put him in with Povetkin who from most of the heavyweights mentioned has a bigger profile. he was on arguably the biggest card of last year and got zero traction from it. If he beat Povetkin convincingly or got some buzz off the back of it. I am sure Hearn would have continued to work with him.

What is the typical matchroom show attire?

Leather loafers with no socks, skinny jeans, Ralph Lauren white shirt, topman blazer.

Just for a bit of fun if I was Hunter I would run with the bounty Hunter gimmick and target each promotional companies weaker heavyweights. For instance say he’s waging war on Matchroom and coming to prove them wrong. I would then target in the next 12 months.

Dave Allen, Fábio Wardley, David Price and Zhang or Fury. After each fight keep calling Hearn out for not supporting the right fighter. After those fights could easily target Chisora in a co main event on an AJ card and from there he would have a proper profile and would likely have a reasonable hype behind him for a PPV fight against the likes of Whyte, AJ or Usyk.

Granted it’s a bit WWE but it would increase his profile having a story behind him. Instead of going on weak undercards and fighting the likes of Devin Vargas or Jerry Forrest that I think he’s likely to do next.

min this world the general public like a story and that’s what he needs to create

Best way to sum it up would be whatevers being worn these days on TOWIE

    Not knocking Hearn for it
Its his market and he gets them open their wallets on a regular

Exactly. He's done really well to successfully identify and exploit a particular demographic. It's great marketing really, works time and time again.

I like Hunter a lot. I’ve got him and Roaado down as the two dudes who mean it most when they say they’ll fight anyone
