It wasn't. Duran just couldn't fight the guy. Just a terrible style and physical matchup for Duran. Duran came right at him and ate Hearns best punches.

A lot of people feel like Duran was intimidated by Hearns as well. Lots of people involved in the fight said that Duran seemed uncomfortable around Hearns.

Hearns is one of the best punchers in the history of boxing. He's also tall which makes him hard for anyone to fight.

I know but the typical Duran could eat and absorb punches like no other. Judging Duran by that fight is like saying Barkley is better than Hearns because he knocked Hearns out cold.

It's been gone awhile. I like to think i played a major role in subdueing it. But now it's back, and i just havent got the energy. Its unrelenting, it has no soul.

I wonder how Hearns would have stacked up against Carlos Palomino. Palomino also had a granite chin.

Nobody judges Duran on that fight alone, Hearns was the better h2h fighter of the 2, Duran has the edge p4p, thats about the size of it.

Hearns would blast him out like he did Cuevas more than likely.

The 154 lb Hearns was a great fighting machine.

Manny Steward said Duran was very friendly to Hearns on the Hitman's way up. Duran knew they would probably fight some day.

Lost half of my respect with Duran when I saw him KO'd or nearly killed by Hearns.

Palomino is different than Cuevas though. Cuevas was an outright slugger and therefore just had no chance, Palomino actually took things inside which is were many people feel Hearns is not most comfortable. I still pick Hearns simply because I think he is better than Palomino.

Who lost the respect for Hearns when he was knocked out by Barkley?

Or whose lost the respect for Leonard when Norris took him out?
