I feel REALLY panicky for AJ... I know it wasn't me taking those punches but i've developed Ruizaphobia after witnessing AJ's destruction... Why am I feeling like this? I hope AJ don't get demolished again and conducts training in an isolated distraction free environment... pause the business ventures they can commence when he retires.or something
I don't ignore ppl often but you deserve it. All you do is talk **** about posters and boxers. You have no line.
Maybe Hearns thinks that AJ overachieved already and has no chance in rebuilding himself like Lennox or Wladimir. He knows more about AJ then we do.
And people thought AJ was going to avoid a rematch. This is the correct thing to do. There is an opportunity to avenge a loss and become champion again. You do not turn down that opportunity.
I don't think they had a choice, to be honest. Had AJ lost to a chiseled 6' 6'' behemoth his adoring British fans (I'm British btw) would have bought into a tune-up fight or two. But because all they will see is a short fat bloke beat up an Adonis, AJ can't be seen to swerve the rematch - his rep would take a battering. I'm guessing Matchroom have delayed announcing where it will take place while Hearn nips to an atm to check the company bank balance, because there is no way they will let the fight take place anywhere else than the UK and will have to pay very good money to make sure that's the case. That's their POV I suspect, and Haymon might throw in a counter offer to get the fight in the states. Trouble is, AJ won't be going back to America any time soon so Ruiz might miss out on earning a fortune if he doesn't come here to defend the belts.
He needs to try to avenge the loss. Does anyone know when the fight will take place? Has it even been stated yet? He will probably fight a much more cautious fight. Work behind the jab, move, grab. time will tell. I am one of the ones that thought Ruiz would lose. Wrong. Thought he could give Joshua some troubled moments but eventually get ko'd by the right. Ruiz is a tough, durable and determined guy. Fast hands and goes with a repertoire and determination. He is a talented fighter with some pop and happens to be fat. Joshua has a lot of muscle but couldn't handle him. Looks are deceiving. When I saw Ruiz fight Dymentrenko (sp) I was impressed. Now, even more so. I think AJ is taking the fight too early. Hey, this will either put him back where he was, although tarnished, or ruin him. Bring it on.
I hope they realize if Ruiz wins again his career is over. AJ won’t win he’s gonna be bad. His confidence is shot. Ruiz took his fighter soul
I'm looking forward to it, Don't know too much about Ruiz personally but from what I've read about him he doesnt seem the type to let the fame go to his head. Maybe Ruiz will let Joshua hold the belts in the build up ?
I think this is the "in case of emergency break glass" option. Not so much for AJ but surely for Hearn and Matchroom because their golden goose just got plucked. If a Haymon controlled fighter has the belts, without this rematch clause, given the terrible negotiations for the Wilder fight? They'd never see a title shot or a fight with Wilder for a long time. No more A side, no more political pull, etc. So in Hearn's case this is the endgame, they lose here it's all over.
Some interesting responses there. When bunce says, " i don't think you did over look him" AJ's gives a very deflated " yeah i know" like he realised **** i didn't over look him and he still beat me, meaning the rematch isn't as simple as just don't overlook him this time. When asked about the ref stopping it, he goes on to say he doesn't criticise the refs or judges etc but then goes on to say i fought until i couldn't fight any more, so he admits him self he couldn't fight on any more so why act surprised the ref called it off? And fact he says he still wants wilder at the end is concerning, The **** is wilder still on your mind when you just got beat by another man? Wilder should be the last person on your mind right now.
He has to go for the rematch or he can kiss goodbye to any title shots for the foreseeable future once Haymon controls all the belts
