Eddie Hearn and Al Haymon are in talks for Jamie McDonnell (27-2-1, 12 KOs) to defend his WBA World bantamweight title against Puerto Rico’s Emmanuel Rodriguez (14-0, 10 KOs) in America.

McDonnell was one of 2015’s star performers with back to back victories over the favoured Tomoki Kameda in the second and third defences of his title.

The fighting Yorkshireman upset the apple cart with an impressive unanimous decision win back in May before repeating the feat even more convincingly in September.

The 29-year-old twin brother to Gavin McDonnell, who recently vacated his European super bantamweight title, has seen his stock rise considerably thanks to those wins and could be facing his third consecutive fight in America. McDonnell's promoter Eddie Hearn told ****** ***** "We have no problem in going to the States. Jamie will fight anyone. My instructions from Jamie is: ‘Get me the most money you can and I don’t care where it is. Just send me’".

Rodriguez, 23 and ranked four with the WBA is unbeaten in his 14 professional starts since turning over to the paid ranks in 2012. Al Haymon added Rodriguez to his stable back in September.

Rodriguez was a silver medallist at the 2010 AIBA Youth World Championships and a gold medallist at the Youth Olympic Games (where he was Puerto Rico's flag bearer) that same year.

Rodriguez made history at the Games when he became the first Puerto Rican to become flyweight champion in the event's history.
Last time out he made it five wins in a row inside the distance when stopping Eliecer Aquino in Hialeah, Florida – his first pro fight outside of his homeland. Rodriguez was defending his WBA Fedelatin bantamweight title and picked up the WBC Latino belt in the process
