Hearns over Duran was two greats fighting. A knockout with two greats beats a knockout with one great fighting. And Hearns demolished Duran from round one into round 2. Jones and Tarver was more a one punch knockout.

Hearns performance was better and no one else would ever do that to Duran. Jones was the better fighter at the time although clearly faded in fight 1. More people would KO Jones but Tarver was the first and those 2 fights ruined his punch resistance imo because Jones actually took some corkers in the first fight

When you watch them it's easy to say Tarver against Jones because that was out of no where. With Hearns against Duran, you already got the feeling he was gonna end it as he dropped him before. Duran still was able to go on successfully in his career by beating Barkley and Hearns is the only man to have him out cold like that. Jones never really had great success after Tarver. On paper, Tommy over Duran because Hearns is the only man to stop him legitimately(Duran was a fossil when he fought Joppy so I really don't count that as much). Even on film the Hearns ko over Duran was bone chilling though when Tarver/Jones 2 ended many people(including I) were like "WTF????? That's.....Jones! He shouldn't be......knocked...out???". It was very hard to grasp for me because I was/am a big Roy fan.

Roy's chin wasn't as bad as people make it seem. In his prime, he only got dropped by Del Valle and he showed a good chin time and time again. Montell and Toney tagged him to name a few. Even a few of the big light heavyweights he faced tagged him a few times and he was fine.

The first Tarver fight is the best example of him showing a good chin

I agree but I was mentioning his prime. I'm not sure if his punch resistance was going down afterwards though I wouldn't be surprised.

Tarver's ko of Jones was a big deal to me, but Hearn's ko of Duran was spectacular...in a class of it's own.
