Does anyone else think the referee stopped the fight prematurely? I've seen fighters allowed to carry on in worse states. :think
I feel there's an agenda at play in this thread based on OP's bitterness regarding the SRL-Hagler bout. Sorry, Leonard stopped Hearns legitimate as an underdog and down on the cards with his eye about swollen shut. Hagler lost his title to a natural welterweight who had one fight in the previous five years, had regressed plenty himself and was making his first venture up to 160.
nah, it was a good stoppage. hearns was real tired after doing all the work being way ahead on the score cards. but leonard came out after getting a dressing down from dundee and just went for it. was't impressed with leonard. i hoped tommy could stick with it to take a points win, but he was done. nothing wrong with the stoppage.
If the second fight was a 15 rounder im very sure tommy would not have made it, similair to how he would have had vs ray in 12 in the first one.
True. With Tommy H2H, whether it's 12 or 15 rounds weighs rather significantly as to the possible/probable outcome. A lot of guys he is capable of just laying out cold, and early. That isn't going to happen against most ATG elites prime-for-prime though, even if he could outbox anybody through 12.
I couldn't agree more. I for one honestly feel that the one true advantage from a physical/stamina standpoint that Sugar Ray Leonard had against Tommy Hearns was the better stamina for 15-round fights.
Good to see yet another of your attempts to **** on Ray has backfired spectacularly. It was one of the best turnarounds in modern boxing and a perfectly legitimate stoppage. What next? Someone slipped Cholo laxatives for their rematch and caused the infamous "stomach cramps"? If you want to talk about premature stoppages,at least use Benitez where you might have a point.
