Who can believe it has been 30 years since these legends fought. Puts things in perspective with such a terrible fight happening tommorrow night with Mayweather and Ortiz. Hearns and Leonard fought everyone and didn't handpick like Floyd!!

I agree. Being reminded of Hearns vs. Leonard shows us how the fight Sat. night should be Floyd vs. Pacman and not Floyd vs. Ortiz. I like Victor, but it should be Pacman in there with Floyd. It is a natural superfight. As it is, I don't even care if Floyd and Pacman happens anymore. It has been talked about so much it is a subject which has been worn out. How can the fight match all the talk people have put into the fight.

Mayweather-Pacquiao having not taken place is a disgrace.

Leonard did become a cherry-picker late in his career, but that was after he had facing a ****ing murderers row of guys like an undefeated Benitez & Hearns, 72-1 Duran, and the larger Hagler.

And when he did cherry-pick, it was at least for the biggest money fights. Damn near anyone would take the paydays against Hearns & Duran over Nunn in 1989.

Mayweather & Pacquiao would be the biggest money fight ever and yet they haven't faced each other.

And I bet this trend will continue with consolation bouts like Pac-Bradley and May-Khan.

I agree. I don't think it will happen. Floyd will win tonight against Ortiz probably in a 8th or 9th round stoppage and he will not mention fighting Pacman. I understand Floyd not wanting to have a loss, but if he fights Pacman and loses I think it is better than if he never fights him and retires undefeated. He obviously thinks he resume now is good enough to assure him ATG status.

you are right. Hearns was 22 almost 23 and Leonard was 25. I am not sure it was a bad decision by Davey Pearl. Had he stopped it too late Thomas Hearns might not have had the long career he ended up having after this fight. After this he still was to fight Benitez,Duran,Hagler,Virgil Hill, Iran Barkley and all the other guys he fought equaling 34 more fights. Hearns fought another 25 years and 16 more title fights.
