SRL vs PBF: There are 3 welters in history that Floyd does not belong in the ring with; Leonard, Hearns, and Robinson. SRL could do everything PBF does, and do it better. Somewhere between 8 and 10 rounds SRL would catch little Floyd and put him away. Duran vs Cotto: Duran stops Cotto late or wins a very clear UD. Haglar vs Kessler: Haglar is one of my top 5 all time favorites, but he is also very over rated in fantasy match ups. The consenus is that Haglar always beats guys like Kessler, Pavlik, et. People act like size does not matter. Bull****! Marvin was not a big middleweight even in his own era. Today he'd be tiny at middleweight, and probably fight at 154. Kessler in Haglar's era would be an average sized LHW. Marvin never, ever dealt with the size and strength, or the power of someone like Kessler. Mikkel takes this 2 out of 3 times, at least. Hearns/Mosely: Hearns by life threatening beat down.
I recken the hammering that Duran would put on Cotto would make the margo beatdown look like a love-in, there'd be no taking a knee in this one, he'd be smashed up in 6:smoke SRL/Money.... easy UD, way too fast 4 floyd & possible TKO late on, imagine that barrage that Leonard dropped on Hearns in 81 being unloaded on Money:scaredas: Hagler/Kessler.... Marv's just better all round, chops Kessler up, TKO/Cuts. Hearns/Mosley...... interesting, the tommy of 84 could possibly blitz shane, if not, tommy could gas out & have a few prob's here. i'am going for the Hitman:smoke
Assuming all were as close to best versions of each other as can be in a suitable weight for both fighters..... SRL UD/late TKO Mayweather Duran UD Cotto Hagler UD Kessler Hearns KO Mosely
All of the Fab 4 win, with the possible exception of Hagler, who despite being a better fighter than Kessler, is a question mark due to size.
SRL vs. PBF & Hearns Vs Mosley are the only interesting matchups. Hearns vs Mosley is interesting because it may be the most diffcult to predict. Hearns has one of the best right hands in all of boxing but he might not have the most durable chin. Mosley when at his best is a master boxer with exlent power of his own. Mosley is what I call a hot and cold boxer. When he is hot he is one of the best but sometimes he is cold and can be baten by wide margains. If Mosley is hot I like Mosley by 11th round t/ko. In a good fight in which Hearns will win some rounds. If Mosley is cold I like Hearns by t/ko within 5 rounds. Floyd Mayweather vs. Ray Leonard would also make for an intresting match up. In terms of offensive ability Leonard is better however Mayweather has a higher KO%. Mayweather is also the better defensive boxer. Leonard can also be elsuive as well. I think Leonard is more versitle than Mayweather. I think their best atubrute is that they both know how to win. Mayweather is a slow starter and will let Leonard set the early pace. Leonard will take advantage, but he will be a little bit too careful. I think Mayweather would prefer to pick up the pace at the end of round 4. He may have to pick it up at the end of round 3. Mayweather picking up the pace will make Leonard pick up the pace as well rounds 5-12 should be entering rounds. I think Mayweather will take a slight majorty of them but it may be one of those fights where their is ligitment and fair disagreement (it happens sometimes) about the outcome. Mayweather wins 7-5 in a fight that could go either way. This might be an intresting 15 round match up. Maywether seemes to get better latter in his fights and may benfit from a longer distance. Among Leonards best wins are the 15th round stopage of Wilfred Benitez and 14th round stopage of Thomas Hearns.
No he wasn't, and rightfully so, Hagler is 5'9'' he was small compared to Hearns and he would still be compared to Pavlik, Hopkins and Williams for example. Don't think I'm pretending he could never beat these guys but the fact is that he's a short guy at that weight which is why I think it makes no sense to ask if he would win at 168 against Kessler because Hagler wouldn't fight at 168
Hagler was not a big middleweight for sure. When he became champ many of the natural middles he fought werent as good as the tough mothers he fought pre '80. Infact you could argue that he avoided natural middleweights later in his career.
Leonard would dominate PBF possibly by KO Duran would KO cotto Hagler and Kessler would be close Mosley would KO Hearns
Dont think SRL versus PBF is as clear cut as some make out. Leonard was countered very effectively by Duran and Pretty Boy is a counter master.
He wasn't a very big middleweight. Rangy for sure, but not very tall, and made 160 with room to spare for quite a few title defenses. And most of it during the era of same day weigh-ins, not middleweights nowdays who enter the ring weighing like 170.
Not an apt comparison I reckon. There is just no way Floyd would fight Ray like Duran did...Duran damn near knocked Leonard out at the start of their fight. Ray was clearly intimidated and uncomfortable after that. The Benitez fight would probably be a better fight to use...And Leonard schooled him. Not many people beat Leonard in a shootout at range...and Floyd aint going to be pushing Ray back or trying to beat him on the inside. Floyd just wasnt on his level at 147.
