Just watched the opening round of Hearns v Andries and his jab looked far sharper than Saad Muhammad`s, Kovalev looked better v Ward in their second fight but Hearns counter punching v Andries would have caused Kov problems and so would his reach, What do you think or how would he have done against two superb boxers like Robinson and Ward who both moved up from smaller weight to fight for the light heavy title?!

Kovalev is a good boxer. He's very hard to beat on the outside as Ward found out. If you spend much of the fight on the outside then Kovalev is going to land and I don't think Hearns could withstand that power. That is if he doesn't succumb to the Krushers jab first..

I agree, but Hearns still punched hard at light heavy and had that great reach.

Hearns grew into a pretty damn good light heavy the wins over Andries and Hill proved that. I'd give him a good shout at out boxing pretty much anyone at light heavyweight, maybe even Charles and RJJ.

But he wasn't really a natural light heavy and his chin would always be a liability against punchers, especially those with some skills along with that power. So Kovalev would likely be out boxed but come back to KO him, noted punchers like Moore, Foster would KO him. RJJ too hand too much speed and power to not catch Hearns and stop him.

Andries was not bad. I think he was 3 times light heavyweight champion and beat good champions. I could see Hearns outclassing Kovalev..

though hearns was world class at lhw, he wasnt an elite, whether that was down to his age or weight i am not sure.

most of the elites would have a fair chance of beating him, the higher echelon ones would stop him.
