Personally for me ,a dream fight. Big fan of both .Both punching like a mule , both had unpredictable chin's .Who takes it ??
Hearns only had 3 fights at SMW, had been stopped twice in his last 7 at MW whereas Benn had 13 at the weight. In Hearns 3 fights he never scored a stoppage (one granted was SRL) Im predicting a Benn win by stoppage after about 4 rounds of Benn bobbin and ducking trying to get in close, Tommy keeping it long off the jab looking for a big right hand that seem to hit everything except Benns chin, in about round 4 or 5 Benn lands a monstrous winging hook, Hearns legs go like a baby giraffe, Nigel jumps on him swinging away some punches land, some miss, there's elbows and forearms landing and the ref jumps in to save Hearns. This is based on Benn fighting in his prime at SMW, whereas Tommy's prime was WW and LMW. When Hearns got to 168 he wasn't at his peak. So prime 168 Benn beats the 32 year old 168 version of Tommy
Good post and agree with it .Hearns was by no means in prime. He still wasn't washed up at super middle though, he went on to beat Virgil .He would be stopped by Benn though ,Nigel was solid at this weight.
The Virgil Hill win was a great boxing performance. Benn and Hearns are two of my 5 favourite fighters ever. I'm glad their paths never crossed when Benn was prime and he didn't end up beating a shop worn Tommy.
