Bennie fought ‘em all, more or less, but he didn’t beat the best of them very often. Most every fighter of note he faced, he lost to. Eddie Mustafa Muhammad was probably the best win on his record and EMM was in his 16th fight and Bennie was a long-seasoned veteran by then, so not exactly facing a prime Eddie (he obviously came into his own at light heavy). Against the second-tier guys — including those Philly middles of the city’s heyday — he did well, but those guys weren’t in Hearns’ class. Thomas could face a shaky moment or two but he largely pitches a shutout on the way to a decision victory.
