I might have ****ed that up because I'm using a tablet, but anyway, the footage exists, and it's awesome!

Yep, seen it Chinny. Hearns was a few years "behind" Pryor.

  4. Every time I see this it just saddens me to watch the current amateur boxing scene.

Alright, these two were indeed world beaters but still... you never see an amateur bout with anything resembling the quality on show here. Not even a 'poor man's version' etc.

It's just sloppy, bunny hopping type stuff, with the occasional punch landing, a lot of holding and running in between.

    Cheers for posting :good

I gave up on watching amateur boxing seriously about 15 years ago.

I was thinking exactly the same, you never see anything close to this level of entertainment in the ams now

No one is saying this is prime Hearns are they?

Anyway, this is of course nothing like what a fight would've been in the pro's between these two, but is an interesting watch.

I watched it when my Hearns career set arrived a few months back, decent enough watch.

na, im actually a big pryor fan and think he would give hearns a decent go in the pros as well, but at what weight? 145lb hearns vs 140lb pryor the obvious size difference would be the main factor for hearns, but pryor could get inside him and rough him probably getting ko'd later on.

  14. Hearns was just too big for Pryor once they'd both matured.

The stylistic edge for me lies with Tommy, though not a great deal.... the easiest (and perhaps laziest) comparison to draw from is Arguello, being a tall, long armed kinda guy.... though Hearns dealt with boxers a lot easier than Alexis did.

Of course, if Arguello could get Pryor's attention (and that he did :yep) you could argue that Hearns would simply slay him inside a couple of rounds.

That said, I think Tommy would be a tad cautious and would respect Pryor's ''overall package'' that he brought to the table. Excellent boxing skills, big punch and the willingness to get in there and fight.

Hearns would've banjoed Pryor in the pros.
