This all is pretty much exactly how I remember things as well..

I routinely rooted against Jones back in his prime, pretty much because he was unbeatable.

Only after coming back down in weight post Ruiz did he finally look vulnerable.

I’d favor Prime Jones not only over Hearns but you can throw Hagler, Duran and Leonard in there too.. i’d say he beats all of them at middleweight..

And I think James Toney was definitely a GREAT fighter, he didn’t appear to be at his best vs Jones but how much of that was Jones!!

    No he didn't.

He was much harder to hit flush than Marvin.

Hagler was more agressive than Roy so his head could be in the firing line more but he gotoff the center line constantly and had a much better guard than Roy. I believe the punches Tommy hit Hagler with would have caught Jones because he still had his hand speed at that stage.

Marvin got hit flush. Not by many guys really. Hearns hit him clean obviously. Roldan sort of did, with short punches, but none of his winding punches hit Marvin, except the one which cuffed his neck and pulled him down. Mugabi hit Marvin, but not with wide punches either. John shortened his punches for the fight with Marvin, yet the uppercut in round 6 was good. Leonard hit him on the top of the head. Hearns hit him hardest, but broke his hand soon after. My point in all this is. Marvin really was not easy to hit clean either. Not really.. Mugabi fought a rusty Marvin who didn't look good.
