I've been looking in to Iran Barkley a lot lately. The first time I saw him i was rooting against him and for Roberto Duran. He gained my respect after seeing that fight and I started to like him more and more. I love punchers/brawlers who are tough and durable, always aggressive and left hookers. So naturally Barkley appealed to me. He was mean, durable and powerful. His biggest moment in his career was shocking the world and knocking out Tommy Hearns. He seemed to be taking a lot of punishment and then he just flipped a switch and went after hearns like a man possessed and when the opportunity came he capitalized with a huge right hook that paralyzed Tommy as he was going down and an additional right for good measure. Tommy got up at a long count of 9 and then was knocked thru the ropes shortly after. Four years later they met again. I'm sure many thought it was a fluke because of how dominant Tommy was up until he got caught. They had the rematch which went to a decision this time. With Hearns going down once if my memory serves me correctly and for me it was a clear win for Barkley but I think the judges had sentiment for Hearns giving Barkley a split decision victory. The rematch proves it wasn't a fluke and it went the distance so its not as if Barkley got lucky again with a wild shot. My question is, what was it about Barkley that gave Hearns hell? Why couldnt hearns execute his famous straight right hand? What characteristics of Barkley's bothered hearns?....
