If Hearns boxes and uses his jab, and doesn't get into a toe to toe street brawl, he has a chance to pull it off, any mistakes and he's on the canvas, even if Hearns fights his fight the match would be extremely close...

In a long 12 round fight i think Nigel would eventually catch Hearns And stop him late...

Hearns was very vulnerable at 160 .. Hagler iced him, Barkley iced him and Roldan had him badly hurt multiple times ... this is a toss up fight as Benn was very fast , nasty, fought best when hurt and was of course a terrific hitter .. Hearns would be favored but it's a three round fight either way and could go either way ..

Hearns boxes his ears off and sparks him out in the middle to late rounds. Maybe Benn gives him an uncomfortable moment or two.

Pretty much how I see it too. There be fireworks afoot.

I can see a situation where Tommy's doing well and outboxing Benn, then hitting him with something that wobbles Benn and of course Tommy went hell for leather against a hurt opponent. Benn, while in trouble getting pounded on, could land a wild swipe that changes everything and suddenly it's Hearns who is in trouble, getting pounded on.

Literally one punch from either man could change everything in this fight. Tough one to predict.

Hearns and benn both big punchers that could themselves be hurt . Hearns by far has the better skill level but benn at middle was all about quickly closing distance and landing heavily as quickly as possible . Either fighter could win this in any of the first three rounds more likely this fight won't hear the bell for the end of the 2nd . I'd go for hearns by KO but a shock victory for benn could never be ruled out

You'd think it should & would be Tommy by Shularesque blitzkrieg, but if you get the jump on Hearns, then Benn could take him out, all the above posts are near spot-on, it ai'nt gonna go 3 rounds, I don't think Nigel is gonna bother about the boxing aspect, he'll know his best shot is to jump Tommy from the 1st ring & ding. Common sense sez Hearns.....but!!!

Lots of good points on here.

Thing is, if you hurt Nigel Benn, that's when he was most dangerous. Tommy was all over you like a rash once he knew you were hurt, which isn't the smartest thing to do once you've hurt Benn.

This fight is a proper 50/50.

Benn would've wan. Hearns didn't do well against big hitters (Hagler, Barkley), and Benn hit harder than Hagler, Barkley...
