Who you got and why? Keep in mind, Cotto has shown a much improved chin at 147 and seems even stronger. Also keep in mind that he has never been hit by anything resembling a Hearns' right.
True, he is outsized and outgunned. But honestly, so is nearly everyone else at 147 that ever faced Hearns. Cotto has a certain style and tenacity that would make this an entertaining matchup. Take a fair look at the types of fighters it takes to get to Hearns and make it competitive, and you'll see what I'm talking about. I think Hearns wins easily, but Cotto is not a pushover.
Cotto's chin may have improved a bit since 140, though I can't really tell, seeing as he was still rocked pretty thoroughly on a few occasions by Judah. That alone makes me think this will be an early KO. Style-wise, Cotto with a granite chin, and perhaps a bit more size, would be a bad matchup for Hearns likely, if he could take his shots. As it is, he can't take his best shots, and he's more of a methodical pressure, which didn't work as well on Hearns as a straight up, powerful swarmer. As the match stands, I can see no other finish than a Hearns KO, and I don't see it lasting too long.
Cotto 's to little 5-7 to Hearns 6-2 it would be a Duran like scenario all over again...A true physical mis-match..
My business partner had lunch with the easton Assassin yesterday at his restaurant. Just an FYI. I thought that would have been cool if I were able to attend. Yes, Orishaman would find a way for every PR fighter to beat everyone all time. Good for him!
