Hearns could definitely take him out early

Golovkin could take him out later too

It would be a good fight

I'd favor Hearns as long as he doesn't do what he did against Hagler. Golovkin does have a puncher's chance. I would give Golovkin no chance against Hagler!

Yes, that would have been a war, as both were pretty much in the same category.

But Marvin peaked between 25-28, while GGG only hit his prime around 30.

I would be curious to know what strategy Gennady would have employed, as punch for punch, and chin for chin, Marvin seemed better.

Hagler outboxed and methodically broke down most of his opponents so he'd probably do the same to GGG.

    Of course.
Everybody's a bum after GGG mops the floor with them.

So you're saying Stevens wasn't a bum before and after he fought GGG? Are you realistically trying to tell me that?

28 sounds right..he was 28 when he fought Sibson, which was probably his "peak" performance, and one of my favorite jabbing displays

    Great post

People seem to do that all the time in fantasy match ups to favour whomever they like better

Hearns was still a powerful guy at 160, even though he wasn't the same as he was at lower weights. Law of diminishing returns I guess.

At 154 he had hand problems and he wasn't knocking guys out silly until he fought Duran.

Shuler was a good fighter and top-ranked contender at 160 and Hearns blew him out early with a monster right, set up with his left hook to the body. 160 and up is where he showed more chin issues. Hagler, Barkley, Kinchen, Leonard 2.

GGG is more methodical than the version of Hagler who fought Hearns. Hagler fought like a bull that night and was all over Hearns, who was most dangerous when he had distance for the right hand to get full leverage (Duran, Cuevas, Shuler).

That might be the best way for GGG to fight, because Hearns was so difficult to outbox at range.

Eh.. if GGG catches Hearns then he's going to end the fight. I suppose the question is, how would GGG react to the bombs of Hearns. The best chin would probably win this fight and it wouldn't go the distance.

I take GGG by KO. He's got more power than Hearns at 160 and probably the better chin.

Yeah, and Jim Jeffries would have KO'd Wlad. Guys like you crack me up. Oh, those fighters in the (fill in the blank) 60's? 70s? 80s? Yeah, yeah, back in the day... Have another beer and reminisce.
