Did he ever get hit by anything resembling that Hearns missile right hand? Roy was never truly tagged by a power puncher until he moved up in weight.
Hearns can't take Jones power. Jones can't take Hearns power. Whoever lands the first flush bomb gets the KO.
Who says Roy would have been hit flush? There's no point in continuing, when you won't even give Ray any credit.
Sure, he can, but he probably doesn't. Given Tommy's better boxing skills, tremendous speed and superior length it's almost a given that he lands the first flush power shot.
I give Ray credit for winning. He won the fight fair and square. I just don't think it has much relevance to a Jones fight.
I would say that Jones would win 6 or 7 out of 10 fights. Jones chin during his stay at 154-160 is a question mark and I think that it is possible that one huge right hand might've send him into oblivion.
To the guys picking Jones I have one big question. How will Jones find his range? At what range will he land power shots?
Are you serious? This is a young Roy Jones we're talking about. He can land power shots any way he wants. Do u even Roy Jones brah?
Answer the question. At what range can he land hard punches on the taller, longer, more skilled and harder punching Tommy Hearns?
More skilled and harder punching are incredibly debatable. The fact is a young Jones can land anywhere he wants due to his GOATly speed and athleticism plus unorthodox style due to his reflexes.
Tommy Hearns is almost as fast as Roy Jones. Just jumping all over him like he did with Toney and Hopkins won't work. Tommy Hearns is the hardest man in boxing history to purely outbox. He's arguably the most skilled fighter in boxing history and only came undone against 1st class ATG's in their prime due to a shaky chin and stamina. Hearns outboxed a prime Ray Leonard rather easily. This guy is no joke. Jones cannot land at will anywhere he wants against the greatest pure boxer ever. There is only one way to defeat a prime Tommy Hearns and that is to hunt him down.
Tommy Hearns outboxed Ray Leonard, Virgil Hill, Wilfred Benitez. That's how godly the man's pure boxing skills were. Jones is not going to sit on the outside and land because "He's Roy Jones". Nah, it doesn't work like that. Tommy Hearns doesn't get outboxed.
