Fair enough - Dan seems a nice guy, maybe he's misjudged the vibe around BN Towers.

Matt Christie is one of the most baffling inclusions in BN. I can't see why on earth anyone would hire him. The most terrible, florid writing delivered with all the subtlety of a bag of hammers dropped on your lap.

That said, he has toned back the alliteration recently, so maybe I'll soften to him.

And you also get Joe Koizumi to write your Japanese fight articles, so you get brownie points for that.

 

That has really upset me actually. I've some thing to deserve that attack. I even sponsored him 20 quid for his charity walk. And I've misrepresented them?

 

DFT you're a Koizumi fan. I'd never have guessed. Cut Matt some slack. He's capable of great things, trust me - I'm the man who picked Kevin McIntyre to beat Kell Brook.

 

I can't say I remember every post of Vanos regarding his time at BN and their P4P ATG rankings but my overwhelming impression is that he put both in a positive light.

I appreciate the back up lads, but I honestly can't see what I've done wrong. Perhaps it's the innocence of youth...

 

Renegade seems alright when he's been on the Bunce hour and other TV, not coming across to well here though and was abit harsh on Vano IMO.

 

I've always admired DFT's ability to insert a Matt Christie dig wherever possible.

I was on that particular bandwagon with you for a while(although I wasn't quite as vicious it has to be said :yep) but I do think he's gotten better recently. No offense to the guy but for a while it did appear as though he copy and pasted every single thing he wrote into a thesaurus before having it published.

 

I've read Matt's work for a few years and the technical flaws are gaping. Not sure who does the sub-editing for the magazine, but he could do with some serious coaching.

I've sent back commissions with that sort of stuff in the past. But there's a level of personal preference to these things - maybe he goes down well with other fans.

As far as writers, I love people who bring fights to life on the page. Koizumi is one of the finest of his generation, even more remarkable considering English isn't his first language. Heck, when Nat Fleischer discovers you, you're in good hands!

I'm not seeing that sort of talent in general in boxing writers right now. A lot of opinion backed up with not a lot of fact-checking.

 

Which card did Danny Flexen do on BoxNation? The last Chavez fight maybe? He came across very well IMHO.
