Dont know if this has been done befor as I have lapses on the forum.I give Hearns a very good chance here based on his jab and the way Monzon keeps his chin up a bit leaves him open for Hearn's right.
Overall the strength and general toughness of Monzon would grind down the slick, shot-gun jolts of Hearn's game. There may be some shuddering exchanges, maybe Monzon will touch down, but other than that Hearns will be hard-pressed to keep Monzon form slowly mugging him as the rounds burn on. The safe money should lay on a late stoppage for the Argentinean.
That's what I see. Over the championship distance, Tommy would be in terrible trouble late. He tried boxing SRL, and wilted as their first match progressed. He attempted bombing out Hagler (who didn't give him much of a choice), and weakened quickly. Monzon's force of will would be imposed on the match, leading to an inexorable outcome. The physicality would be too much for Hearns to overcome, as his legs eventually betray him.
The more I think about it, I actually think Hearns has a very good chance in this one. For one, Monzon's slowness, and Tommy's quickness. Being a fast starter, if Hearns can land that right flush into Monzon's head, Carlos could be in serious trouble, and may even go down...and out. But if this doesn't pan out, the longer the fight progresses, Hearns slowly regresses and tires. Monzon's durability will come into play here, and most likely see him take it by UD or late TKO.
Monzon would make it a physical fight, drag Hearns into deep, deep water and KO him in the midrounds. People will be amazed by the relative ease he does it with too. IMO Hearns is made for him.
This is interesting because Hearns is taking away Monzon's outside game, outjabbing/right handing Monzon and likely building up a points lead, Monzon needs to get inside or to mid range to force a fight, he's going to be hit very hard and very clean on the way in. Monzon could stop Hearns late, but Hearns may also stop Monzon, he's likely the hardest hitting but also fast and accurate enough to land that power more than anyone before. Hearns may also win out a UD Could go either way all in all
Fact: Monzon was never hurt despite facing punchers like Valdez or Briscoe. Fact: Monzon had a great chin. Fact: Monzon knew what it takes to survive when hurt. Fact: Monzon had excellent recuperation ability. You are talking out of your ass. Like ususal. :hi:
FACT: Valdez/Briscoe were only B Class fighters and still the best on Monzon's ledger :deal FACT: Prime Hearns is a step up in class :deal FACT: Even Ricky Hatton didn't get KO'd until he stepped up to the A Class fighters, something Monzon never did :deal

Hearns without a doubt. This is an awful match-up for Monzon. Hearns is bigger, faster and more mobile from the outside, which pretty much takes away Monzon's range-control game, and Monzon certainly doesn't have the kind of stylistic attributes or chin to walk through him either. Monzon would likely spend the first few rounds fruitlessly trying to find openings while Hearns pecks away and tees him up before putting the right hand through him and ending it around the fourth or fifth. And LMAO @ the Monzon fans on here claiming that Hearns doesn't have the power to stop him.
