I wondered why they never crossed paths. Take Mugabi and Hearns both after their thrashings by Hagler and put them in a 12 rounder at 154. Who's your pick and why?

I'am going with the beast to wipe Tommy out, he'll grind him down in 6, James "Hard Rock" Green is the only Lt/Middle to give Mugabi a tough close battle if i recall, far to dangerous an opponant for Hearns & being a brit based fighter was still in the 2nd division while Tommy was looking for premier league pay days with Duran/Hagler.

I think a Pre-Hagler Mugabi has a shot in this 1, his offense/power/durability was impressive against Hagler despite being raw. He might be able to do a Barkley

Hearns would kayo Mugabi in three rounds, enough time before Mugabi got to him.

Back around '85, Manny Steward was stearing Hearns away from the dangerous and sloppy Mugabi........ Steward thought Mugabi was too physical for Hearns to cope with at that juncture......... Skillwise, Hearns is far superior..... However, Mugabi was peaked in 1985 and had amassed a pro record by feasting on bums, stiffs and hasbeen's for the most part.......

I think the Hearns who KO'd James Shuler would beat the Mugabi who was TKO'd by Hagler in 1986...... That being at middleweight..........

The ko of Shuler may have been more brutal than Duran,I dont that kind of luck that Barkley had would have happened twice, plus Barkley being 6'1 with a decent jab helped him get there,a 5'8 Mugabi with no jab has no chance, this 1 has coma written all over it.
