at no point did i give the impression of norris being outclassed hearns i think would just land a right and norris would be a gonna
I dont think I accused anyone in particular of that, and I agree I can see Hearns big righthand laying Norris out as well but in a competitive fight. :smoke
Because Norris would have to get to him first in order to make him cave. Barkley will tell you that he took more punishment in two-and-a-half rounds with Hearns than Norris did in almost his whole career put together.
No one's underestimating his boxing ability; it's just that it won't matter. No one's ever troubled Hearns by boxing him. He outboxed Benitez and Hill clearly, and Leonard and Hagler were only successful when they changed their styles and went at him. And none of the fighters I listed had as weak a chin as Norris, nor his consistent tendency to get drawn into slugfests.
I know youre a jockrider but my statement was merely to point out he wouldnt get blown out in 2 or 3 rounds like some stated. I think its a fair statement to give Norris a little more credit based on his ability. :dead
Hearns came back from several beatings/being hurt. Leonard in 1981 hurt him and Tommy was outboxing him later. He had that toe to toe round with Hagler which Terry could have never held up in. Roldan hurt Tommy in rounds 3 and 4, and Tommy came back and stopped him. Kinchen knocked Tommy down and almost had him out, and Hearns came back and won a decision. Ray Leonard in the rematch had Tommy hurt 2 or 3 times, and Tommy came back and should have won a decision. Freddie Delgado in 1994 hurt Tommy in round 2, and Hearns won a decision.
Keith Mullings hurt and stopped Norris, nough said... Hearns, all over Norris from the opening bell. Hurts him, then finshes him, 2 rd KO.
Its funny to think some people give Norris a chance in this. Similar outcome to the Hearns/Shuler fight with Tommy winning by savage KO.
